How to Choose the Right Pump for a Pond: Petco How-to

Every pond needs a pump. Pumps must recirculate the entire water volume once per hour. The maximum water flow is at the pond's surface. Pumping above the surface reduces water flow. Head height refers to the height above which a pump is incapable of producing flow. The pump you choose needs to be powerful enough to move the water through the feature at a desired height.

The volume of water flowing determines the width of your pond's waterfall.

All Tetra water pump packages include information on flow rates. Match the pump capabilities with your pond features. The Tetra Debris-Handling Pump is hassle free.

Amazing tip! I was recently thinking about adding another waterfall in my pond, and that helped me a bit, with the technical part (I'm not the smarter when it comes to tech...). Thank you.

Where are the large pumps for a 1/2 acre pond. Would love to see a video on a large pump filling a pond. If you use a waterfall feature/pump your loosing quite a bit of water through evaporation.
