I also feel like the in universe reason why Jason was killed was because of the “Game” between Batman and Joker. It’s like the quote from Arkham Knight when Joker shoots Barbra to paralyze her it says “This is what happens when you bring others into our little game.”

This is because the Robin at the time was Jason Todd who unlike the previous Robin (Dick Greyson) who became Nightwing was often disliked because he replaced the fan favorite Robin and was considered moody. Eventually though they brought him back to life but as the character Red Hood. An anti-hero who didn't mind killing bad guys.

This is one of the reasons I kinda feel bad for Jason. He got screwed over in by the real world. I love red hood. But I’d be interested to see the time line where he lived and got a fair shot as Robin.
