My 10 year old son is extremely timid - especially of dogs. We got him a Vizsla puppy and the two of them are now fighting like brothers. Both get jealous of my affection toward either of them. But the Vizsla has just fitted in perfectly with the family and although he is just 16 weeks old he is already the family protector and is especially protective of my wife - if any stranger approaches her, he will start a low rumbling growl. The vizsla considers himself just one of the family - eats whatever we eat and thinks he can do anything we can do - but better! Great dog, I can't wait to take him hunting.

German Shepherds are great for kids as well, they are big shedders and are very protective of the family. For example my grandmother used to have one named Sam. Sam wouldn’t let ANYONE, not even the parents touch us. He eyed them when they just hugged my brother and I! They are easily trained, loyal, could be used as a guard dog, patient, very energetic and fun, smart. An example of being energetic, fun, smart is Sam would play tag in the backyard with my brother and I, another example of being smart is Sam could open doors.

Rottweilers, i had one since i was 2 yrs and grew up with it he was the most patient friendly active cuddly dog ever im almost 13 and he just passed away, one of the saddest things that have ever happened to me but any ways Rottweilers are awesome family dogs

My labradoodle was amazing with kids. Got at least six kids over their fear of dogs due to his calm demeanor around them. I would be rough housing with him and he would stop when the "scared" kids entered the room. When they left if was on again. He was a master of dog-jit-zue we would roll on the floor attacking each other.

Sheepadoodle amazing I have one right now he is loving and affectionate. They also love to play and are very smart when it comes to training.

ive had a french mastive for about 5 years now but he recently died of heart worm, but i think they are a very good dog breed for children and they are very protective and an overall a good dog for a family with or without kids.

I have a border terrier he is fun I also have a parson Russel he's old so he doesn't like to play but recommend a border terrier
