Huzzah to purging and cleaning! I love it! Yesterday I pulled two piles of books to test, but with a small twist. I need to record today.
I have an Adriana T book, but it's Big Cherry Holler.
When in doubt, toss it out. LOL I dnf'd Oliphant too.
Sometimes those free or inexpensive books aren't worth hauling. I'm learning that a lot of the books I bought at my library (mostly books recommended on booktube), are not to my taste.
I just added Between Shades of Gray and The Edge of Belonging to my goodreads tbr. LOL Thanks. 🤣📚

This was fun, and a great idea! I've had a mediocre reading year, so I'm with you on wanting to fill 2023 with only good reading! Between Shades of Gray is great (and sad and hard), but well worth it. And I recently tried reading a Pulitzer winning book and I just did not care --- was so bored! So I don't think they are for me.

This is a great idea Mitzi; you’ve inspired me to try this. I own too many unread books that it overwhelms me and I really want to either read or get rid of them by the end of next year. I find that sometimes if I keep an unread book for too long, I lose interest in it. Yes, please share your Bookmobile story! I have very fond memories of the bookmobile when I was a kid. I was so excited on the days the bookmobile came to my school. That was the beginning of my love of books.

This is a great idea, Mitzi! 📚 It is hard for me to part with books in general. I still have an encyclopedia set from 1989. 😂 Not sure if I could part with books that I haven’t read. But, I do think your unhauling method is a good one.

This seems like a very good way to unhaul books. I may do this with the Kindle and Audible books I've accumulated in 2022. This actually may be a good way to buy books too. On Amazon, a lot of times you can get a chapter to try. I think I will try a chapter before buying any books in 2023. New bookish goal for 2023. Woo Hoo!

I love these videos and idea. I am going to read five books in January that were all try a chapter that made the cut and I need to read now! Elinor Oliphant was a fine book- even good but I did think it was too drawn out and loved other similar books more.

Hi Mitzi. I agree about the profanity. I'm not a prude but just don't think it's needed the majority of the time. When I was growing up in the 60's, the book mobile parked in our large driveway for our community stop. So wonderful.

This is pretty much how I decided what to read next. Total mood reader ...lol I just grab 4 and read 20 or so pages and see what my mood is. This was great!!

I do like doing this, mainly with books where I have forgotten why I wanted to read them in the first place. 😂 Always good to try some and make choices. However, sometimes I get too clingy with books and keep them “just in case”. Historically I don’t get on with prize winners. Interesting selection.

It feels so good to unhaul books! I remember a couple of months ago, I watched a book unhaul on Book Zealots, too, and immediately went to my shelves and did the same 😂

I read and enjoyed Elinor Oliphant so it made me laugh that you are unhauling the only one I have read in that stack. 🙂

I have read Shades of Gray. And two other Ruta Sepetys books. She is an auto-read for me. Her books are so well researched and well written. I read Amanda Cox's other book The Secret Keeper of Old Depot Grocery (I think that is the right title). It was pretty good. I have heard that The Edge of Belonging is even better. I have also heard good things about Diane Chamberlain from people I normally agree with on books. I haven't tried her yet. The others I have either not heard of or heard mixed reviews on. 😊

I have read four of these books. I liked them all but I am really happy you didn't get rid of the Ruta Sepety's book. She is a great author and most of her chapters are short. I loved Eleanor Oliphant but maybe it's not for you.

Ruta's books are YA but they are so good. I am your age and also don't like a lot of YA but loved hers. Eleanor Oliphant is so funny and a favorite of mine. I really think you would like that one.
