Watch me go about my day somewhat while reading the beginning chapters of a stack of books. The takeaway: Just stop it with the prologues, please. NO ONE NEEDS YOUR PROLOGUE.

This was just lovely! I'm making some Mexican cornbread while listening, who it felt like spending an afternoon with a friend 🖤 I did pause to see which yarns you choose and I heartily approve!!!! LOL It's gonna be spectacular :) I'm jealous your library has Light Brigade; I recommended move to order it but they haven't yet. And I'm very intrigued by Wreck, I'll have look into it.

Congrats on paring down your TBR! Since I saw your other Ready A Chapter tag last summer, it has made a huge difference in how I engage in my books. I don't tend let uncertainty or intimidation cause me to avoid picking up a book anymore. In professional area projects I had already developed a "fail test" where I test for weakness and failure as fast as possible. This is basically the same thing, just applied to books. And now I've started doing it for TV series as well. I bet there are other adjacent applications as well. This is kinda life changing!!! THANK YOU for inspiring me to engage with my stuff with more freedom 🖤🖤🖤

Midnight Never Come sounds super interesting! I always want to skip the prologue. I dislike them as strongly as you do. The bread looks so tasty... That shawl is gorgeous and I love Ava and her fox ears! G. Willow Wilson <3 I think those yarns go great. :D Successful unhaul, I'd say.

What a beautiful day. Baking, blocking, sampling books, and spending time with little dog. Very enjoyable.

Love the new colors you chose for your crochet (?) project, and the very idea of the project itself. Can't wait to see what it ends up looking like by the end of the year!

I love the vloggy vibe here, and seeing how your shawls are blocking out (and puppy!) The purple is perfect for mysteries and the mustard will blend in fine, I think. Glad you found a couple of winners, even if they had those prologues _~sigh~_

Tailchaser's Song was William's first novel. I thought it was good when I first read it (probably when it first came out). I reread it many years later (after reading a lot more of his work), and his later work is written far better. The four-book trilogy Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn (individual books are The Dragonbone Chair, The Stone of Farewell, and To Green Angel Tower (vol 1 & 2)). He has returned to the same world recently with The Heart of What Was Lost, The Witchwood Crown, and Empire of Grass, which is coming out in May. Otherland is a massive SF series with immersive VR. The War of the Flowers is a standalone fantasy. Let's just say that magic doesn't get you out of your obligations. Recommendation: Skip Tailchaser's song and find War of the Flowers.

Morning Zombie Rachel is still extremely eloquent. I was very curious to hear your thoughts on the Marie Brennan as I had no idea what else she has done.Asteroid Made of Dragons sounds such a strange but fun title.
It was really nice to see Ava in full, it's been awhile since she made an appearance.
Try A Chapter videos are always so varied and interesting to watch. Books someone is already unsure about that could go either way.

Your dog is just too cute! 😍 She looks like a fox, but extra fluffy/spiky.

Haha I love how this turns into a minor grump on prologues! I am really curious about the Bird King. Does is feel majorly romance heavy? That’s what is making hesitate.

Maybe the golden color will add a sparkly pop, especially since it doesn’t look like it will be a hugely dominant color. The end of the year will be fun to see!

I got an advance copy of The Bird King, and I really liked it. I thought Willow's writing was lovely, and the story was not what I expected, which was a very good thing, since I was also reading an ARC of Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan, which was so unoriginal, especially compared to The Bird King.

Love Try A Chapters! That one was very successful. I want to get to Midnight Never Come sometime, too, but first I need to read some more Lady Trent.

I was feeling really depressed so the timing couldn’t have been better.

Aaah Rachel. Very entertaining lol. But whilst dogs are great and Ava is soo cute, Cats are LIFE! (Gonna add that Tad Williams book!). And I *love* a good prologue, it can sometimes set up a story in a way that going straight into the current narrative doesn't allow.

And what is it you're doing with your shawl (needlework is unknown to me!), I'm very confused! What's it doing on the floor???
