15 quid for a 1959 Morris Minor in 1975. Drove it for two years back a forth to university, never let me down. Sold it for £15 after crashing it.

The Mini Hatch has a fair few more problems with the Peugeot-sourced engines. I used to work for Peugeot and these Prince engines were not uncommon for dephaser problems, misfires, stretching timing chains, and worst, burning about 200ml of engine oil every 1000 miles. This was caused by the shallow piston heads vibrating inside the cylinders and wearing down the cylinder walls, allowing oil to pass. For whatever reason the Mini seems less common, but the issues are certainly still there. Can't argue with the fuel economy though! The water leak issue mentioned with the 107 is almost always the rubber seal on the rear high-level brake light, allowing water into the boot, which then runs forwards into the footwells, a very easy fix.

My cheapest car was a 1955 Austin A30 bought for £25. My first car! Purchased in 1975.

£30 Road tax is as high as il go. Anymore is just dead money that could be invested elsewhere other than the government

I think we need to take a second to say “Yo JB, you put in mad work and research for these vids and it’s very much appreciated” Smashed 100k now and that’s clearly for a reason! Big up man! Peace

I've got a vw polo 9n3 bluemotion 2007. 5 speed manual. Fuel economy is insane. Went from Dysart in Scotland to Poole, Dorset on just over half a tank 😜 700+ mile range 👌

Great video JB, I bought for £400 a clio II 1.5 dci with 120k on the clock initialy as quick disposable second car, but Its so cheap to run and mantain (30£ tax, 60 mpg), plus its care free being a worthless shitbox that 15 months/10k miles later I still have it, and as it just passed its MOT once again I think I'll have it for at least another year...

Learn to drive economically first. Got 76mpg from my previous tank in my 2012 1L petrol Aygo. 95, 000 miles on the clock but it's been well looked after since I've owned it from when it had 10, 000 miles on the clock. My mechanic lent me his 1.2L Micra during my MOT... Reset the MPG meter that said 25mpg and when I returned it it said 65mpg. Was quite impressed as the engine felt allot more powerful then my Aygo.

My cheapest car was my first car. In 1973 I paid £40 for a Ford Anglia. It lasted a couple of years but needed a new clutch and a bit of welding done. Cars were rust buckets back in the day.

Will be driving a Peugeot 107 soon. Can achieve over 60mpg from it from its 1 litre engine plus £0 road tax. The allure spec has factory rear tints, AC, alloys and a few other nice touches which makes it look like a nice car.

£50 for my C reg (1965) Triumph Herald 1200 saloon.
39bhp but probably the most fun a teenager could have for the money 😁

£200 1986 honda civic in gold still had a choke and was auto. It died because of rust to the bodywork. Couldn't stop the engine.

Cheapest car I bought was my nb mx5 which I bought a year ago for 1.5k. Had to pay a premium because I was late to the party but it has served me well and hasn't had any mechanical issues, although I'm expecting some big rust bills down the line
