📢 This year India announced that it will make efforts to 'fortify' all rice supply distributed through government channels by 2024. Several research organisations are engaged in biofortification of cereals and other crops. So what is biofortification? Biofortification is the process of genetically enhancing plants to produce additional useful nutrients.
🔴 But is biofortification the answer to malnutrition in India? Does it pose any threat to us or other organisms? Are we losing biodiversity with biofortification?
