As a commercial pastry chef, we moved from red 3 to red 40 and now we have switched to natural red ingredients to pigment pastries 😂

How can anyone dispute this amazing, meticulously sourced, very detailed, in-depth explanation?

This is 100% true...My brother could not function with hyper activity when he had RED kool-Aid...cut it out he was a total different kid.

Note: if you notice a change it might also be because you stopped feeding your kids skittles everyday

Yep, my 3 year old threw crazy tantrums and we took all dyes out of his diet and he turned into a different kid. Not all kids are affected by dyes but if you’re having strange swings in emotions give it a try. We did a full metal detox of him also and showed a big difference in how he was communicating with us.

It’s true. I used to drink a gallon of red 40 a day and once I stopped I got out of my wheelchair

As a Brit, I tried an imported Fanta strawberry from USA, now I gotta admit it tasted amazing, however looking at the ingredients was a bad idea, couldn’t bring myself to drink any more, a lot of the ingredients are banned here, it’s crazy that it’s the norm there, but great to see they are moving towards natural ingredients

I don’t have kids yet at 23 but I always look if something has red 40 in it simply bc I have an allergy type reaction with gastrointestinal issues if I have too much of it and it’s hard to tell if I have too much of it so I avoid it the best I can.

I can totally agree with getting rid of it as gastrointestinal issues aren’t really talked about when consuming this dye.

My daughter breaks out with dry skin and bad rashes whenever she has it. It’s hard to not ingest sometimes because it’s in so many things

I use to pull MASSIVE fits when I was 6 or 7. We had no clue what it was. I cursed- that nobody in my house ever cursed; spit, kick, hit, bit, scream. The whole 9 yards. Docs were telling my mother to put me up for psychiatric evaluation. She told them, “I’m not giving up my kid”. She stopped Capri Suns the fruit punch (which were red at the time) flavor mainly. I flipped like a LIGHT SWITCH. Never pulled a fit again, like a whole new kid within the next few days. She always told me red dye is horrible for kids... I’m literally living proof

Red 40 is a specific bug, I think a beetle that's dried up and when it's crushed up and makes a red powder that we use as dye. One of the oldest ways we've made red dye lol. I learned this on a field trip in elementary school. I do wish y'all said what was so "night n day" about taking it out

when I was a kid (who suffered from severe hyperactivity, to the degree of learning disability) my parents would notice an insane shift anytime I had heavily processed foods. So dyed, processed/high in sugar, artificial flavoring etc.

It all had a crazy effect on my mood, behavior and ability to focus. I also now as a adult don’t have to deal with the same cravings for garbage food as most people do because I simply wasn’t allowed to have it anymore and it became gross to me.

It’s true. My youngest is a completely different child, when I really take control of what they eat it honestly blows my mind a little bit, she will go from too much energy, getting angry quickly, never happy too this super nice and loving sweet little girl. Just by only giving them food I cook and make from scratch. Ditch the Cheetos give them fruit instead. You will notice a difference i promise you.

I’m in college with ADHD and I try to avoid red food dye. I hope they ban it bc red flavors are always the best

I was born premature and had issues with some of my organs. Growing up I still had issues with my organs, three of those being my intestines and stomach. The doctor wanted to do a small test with me and had my mom take the red dye out of my diet as much as possible. Not only did it help my stomach and intestines a little bit but also she noticed the behavioral differences. It's honestly crazy to think about now as an adult with no issues with my organs and being able to eat whatever and personally noticing the difference from when I was younger to now and still cutting out those foods and feeling the difference hit me even harder because I'm actually able to listen to my body and what it wants now.

True, it’s hard because it is in almost in everything we consume

When i was a teenager before i was diagnosed with ADHD, i personally noticed i wasnt able to be focused or pay attention to ANYTHING when i would have a cherry slushie from the local gas station. I already struggled paying attention to things which i later learned was ADHD but turned out it was the food coloring that was heightening my attention deficit issues because other slushie flavors were fine but only certain ones made me feel disoriented and zoned out but also like my mind was running 100 mph but not retaining any info.

This isn't a conspiracy theory, this is just proven fact. It also tends to elevate ADHD, so I would say if your child has a reaction and there are other signs to back it up, get them tested for ADHD.

We have a 3 year old that can’t have red dye. We were having so many behavior issues, like kicked out of daycare at 20 months. Took red dye out. World of change. We also know within 10 mins if someone has given him anything red. Doesn’t affect my other kids the same way, but for him, it’s horrific
