What’s happening in this Rudy movie clip?
With Notre Dame leading 17–3, Devine (Chelcie Ross) sends all the seniors into the game except Rudy (Sean Astin from The Lord of The Rings), despite Steele's and the assistant coaches’ urging. Fans are aware of Rudy’s goal from a story in the student newspaper, and a "Rudy!" chant begins in the stadium. Hearing this, the Notre Dame offensive team, led by tailback Jamie O'Hara (Vince Vaughn from The Lost World: Jurassic Park and The Cell), overrules Devine's call for victory formation and scores a quick touchdown, providing defensive player Rudy a chance to get in the game and be entered onto the Fighting Irish roster. Devine finally lets Rudy play on the Notre Dame kickoff to Georgia Tech.

What’s the Rudy movie about?
A young man learns to let nothing stop him from realizing his ambitions in this drama, based on a true story. Rudy (Sean Astin from The Lord of The Rings) dreams of attending Notre Dame University, and playing on the Fighting Irish football team. However, Rudy's dream doesn't seem very practical; his father works in a steel mill and can ill afford to send his son to Notre Dame, while Rudy's grades are not especially impressive, and standing a shade over five feet tall and weighing a little over 100 pounds, Rudy is hardly built for the gridiron. However, with the help of Father Cavanaugh (Robert Prosky), Rudy is admitted to Holy Cross, and in his junior year manages to squeak into Notre Dame as a transfer student. Rudy works as an assistant to the football stadium's groundskeeper to pay his tuition and appears at tryouts for the football team. Rudy is made a member of the practice team but Coach Ara Parseghian (Jason Miller) is impressed with Rudy's devotion and determination, and pledges that he'll allow him to dress for one game before he graduates, so his name can be recorded as an official member of the team. However, the arrival of a new coach and a tough season that allows for few unnecessary players may put a stop to Rudy's dreams within sight of the finish line.

I remember back in 2009 we had just made the playoffs in high school and were on the road to play the number 1 seeded team. It was a 2 hour drive and coach put this movie on the bus to inspire us. That night in the locker room he ended the speech before the game with "be Rudy tonight". We lost the game 56-6

Gives me goosebumps. Amazing. I had a Rudy moment in High school basketball. I was a bench warmer and my friend Mark Gray told me he was going to get the crowd cheering for me to get in. By the one minute mark he had the entire crowd cheering for me. Coach finally told me to take off my sweats and just from that the crowd was on their feet. Went I went in the entire crowd gave me a standing ovation. Never forget it. Everyone deserves a moment like that in their life. Thank you Mark Gray!!

Lump in my throat, tears in my eyes…u gotta have a heart of stone to not feel the emotion of this! What a story, what a film, what a dreamer named Rudy who had a heart bigger than that entire stadium and who never gave up! Love this!

The Rudy music gets me pumped up every game I have to play when I was in HS. The tune has a meaningful effect to me because I tells me to never give up in school, football, my job, and other personal matters. When I turn that music on, it gets me to work nonstop till the finish line.

If I ever get dirt or something stuck in my eye, I watch this scene. Works every time.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, "Spare Tire" Dixon.

I was actually at this game when they were filming. ND was playing Boston College and it was COLD! My dad and I ducked in a building to get warm before the game and we ran into the GT and ND "players" standing in a hallway. We couldn't figure out what was happening until halftime. That's when the public address informed us of the filming and informed the crowd to cheer wildly during the "plays" and when Sean Astin ran onto the field and when he "sacked" the QB! The crowd went crazy like it was real! Great memories! My dad is gone now but that memory will always be there for me! ND went on to throttle both GT AND Boston College that day!
