The spring training tryout scene from the film Rudy. This is one of the most inspirational scenes in any film. The song "Tryouts" is composed by Jerry Goldsmith.

Memories of cold fall mornings, you can see your breath, the sun's shining or maybe it's overcast and a white misty haze is over the grass, the wind's blowing and you're knocking heads and working your tail off. Anybody who has every played football knows these days, these practices, the work and comradery, some of the best times a person can have as an athlete.

Rudy has one of the best musical scores in cinematic history.

_Rudy_ is a perfect example of how a film's score can elevate a small, rather personal story to a masterpiece that grabs you by the heart and never lets go. It's a testament to Goldsmith's amazing talent that even fans of rival programs who dislike Notre Dame still love this movie. The _Rudy_ soundtrack is nothing less than the indomitable human spirit set to music.

Honestly I think Rudy getting ADMITTED to ND was the far greater challenge.

The music is perfect in this film, especially in this scene. It MAKES this scene so memorable. Thank you, Mr. Goldsmith

"Let me tell it to you as clean as I respect his speech. He did not hold anything back.

I just realized why I enjoy the coach's speech.

Besides being lean and not wasting a word, the cadence of his speech fits the background music. He talks and pauses at just the right pace.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, "Spare Tire" Dixon.

what i found interesting watching this again, is that when the coach on the left mentioned rudy as a player to keep on and the other coach didn't want any of them, he knew rudy's name when he was mentioned. even though he didn't want him, rudy made an impression on him.

This movie helped save me during a time of deep depression, when the world seemed stacked against me and everything in me wanted to give up, but I had just enough fight left to keep pushing forward. This movie, and this particular scene, helped me find and keep my courage. I can say that looking back now from a place of personal success and fulfillment.

30+ years ago, these were the morning practices we had for HS football. Truly miss those days and cherish the memories I have of this game.

They simply don't have scores like this anymore. Goldsmith was a genius.

It truly warms my heart knowing Samwise Gamgee attended Notre Dame and was a member of the football team.

All the tryouts I went to were over 25 years ago. But watching this, I remember it like it was yesterday.

The most underrated part is the coach basically goading all of the scout team hopefuls into staying with the "Any of you wanna run home to mama?" line 🤣🤣
