The lithium-ion batteries in iPhones (and all electronic devices) are consumable products. The average iPhone battery retains only 80 percent of its original capacity after 500 charge cycles! In other words: If you charged your iPhone every night for a year and a half, the battery meter would still read 100%—but your battery life would only last 80% as long as it did when you first got it.

Here are 6 signs it may be time to swap out your iPhone’s battery.

I like how my problem was the first one😭 but it also skips percents like from 34% to 24% to 5% to dead but if I turn It back on after it dies it comes back on to 27%

"Your iPhone works...but only when it's plugged in." that actually holds true for ANY device with a rechargeable battery. I had an old IBM ThinkPad from 1994 where the battery go to that point had to get new ones. I used it for school so I always had a spare. My brother had a Dell Laptop with Windows Vista that did that same thing after so many years and the one department manager at work had a Dell with an Intel Core i3 with the same issue the difference on the laptops is that you usually get specific warnings from Windows and the battery light will flash continuously even though the charger is connected.

Another thing to note is that the battery degradation is not linear. That top 20-30% you’ll wear out with 500-600 cycles is the longest lasting part, it starts to plummet after that until about 40% ish left I think.

this is such a good video because in this way, i wouldnt have to pay too much to have someone fix it. they usually range so much, so its better to just fix it this way. very helpful video!

Super helpful video @iFixit. Still hesitant to replace my battery, although it's down to 72% max capacity.

Just replaced my iPhone 6s battery using an iFixit kit. So far so good! Wasn’t what I’d call “super easy”. But definitely wasn’t that bad, especially since it was my first iPhone battery swap.

Been using 7 plus for 3.5 yrs already. After 2 yrs of usage, batt health decreased to 87% (the time batt health is added on settings due to iOS upgrade). Now it’s at 77%. Yeah it’s degraded but i think it’s still fine. By the time it reaches below 70%, well time for replacement.
