And what about the parents? No one is going to do something about them? The kids don't get this big by themselves. The parents lets the kids eat until they are unhealthy and then all of a sudden send them on camp to loose weight?! Where is the parental discipline in all of this?? I feel sorry for the kids. I really do. They don't know the dangers and risks with an unhealthy diet. Their brains can't comprehend consequences! That's why it is so effing important for parents to take responsibility and educate their kids in the home outside of school and to discipline them!

That kid talking about communicating with his parents soul to soul just about broke my heart ❤️

Well intentioned but the main flaw of these camps is that it doesn't teach clients how to change their lifestyle sustainably in the long run. Fitness is not something that is achieved through momentary intensity, it is something that is achieved through a lifetime of consistency.

Finding happiness and purpose in life outside of food would probably help the issue of growing obesity rates a lot more than solely trying to just restrict/regulate food intake, increasing exercise, and shaming people for their fatness.

The issue is clearly the food. Fighting "obesity" seems to mean targeting people rather than the causes of how they came to be obese. And when it is a general social problem, then society has a food related cultural issue somewhere it needs to address. It isn't just China, nor is China alone in wanting to ignore the cause and just go ahead and make money off of "fighting obesity".

From what was shown, there were 3 problems that was causing obesity, either separately or together; what was eaten (fast food, etc.), the amounts eaten, and the expectation that someone else should come and "fix" the problem somehow without a change in lifestyle. Those who lost weight did so by changing their eating and exercise habits, but I doubt the rest will. The moment they return to their home environment they will return to their old habits and their old weight.

The 12 year old sonny is so sweet. I'm not a parent myself but I see my dear nephew in him. Bless his little heart

1. Camp training is fine for the kids but the parents also need to literally change the food in the house. Unless they want to take their kids to the camp again.

2. It doesn't matter what treatment you are doing to lose weight, it cannot replace carefully plan food and exercise in the long run.

3. I don't think plus size models are good in the long run. China might end up like the US.

The people i met (In UK and Korea) who watch eating videos in my experience were not obese on the contrary they either had an eating disorder with food like not eating so they watched others eat or just had plain food fetish.

He said he went home and gained all the weight back. What about his parents? His mother and father should have been careful about his diet. Home seems like a field to get obesity

Maybe I’m just weird 😂 but watching mukbangs helps me when I’m fasting, they actually make me eat less. It’s like indulging without physically indulging, it takes away the craving and even the hunger for me.
The 12 year old was so cute omg, I felt bad he was away from home for so long at such a young age 🥺 the way he spoke about his parents was heartwarming.
I think the gastric bypass is a better option in the long run for younger people because the continuous yo-yo weight gain and loss over time is extremely detrimental to your heart. Some people are just more prone to be overeaters, overweight etc. it’s ok to take drastic measures for a better quality of life, especially if it will increase your lifespan.
Great documentary.

I really pity mukbangers. Eating that many calories is unhealthy no matter how healthy is your gut and stomach. My greataunt had stomach problems throughout her life so she ate very little. There were days when she boiled one big potato and ate this potato all day. She lived to the age of 96. Her sisters-in-law never had any digestion issues so they ate practically anything and in large amounts. Although the food they ate was mainly home-cooked from fresh ingredients. They passed away in their early 60s. Our bodies are not programmed to eat that much

18:59 aww that boy seems so sweet, why would his mother hang up on his call! And seeing this type of training program is good for the kids to do activity, because not only obesity but also too sedentary and reliant on technology and always on the computer/TV/tablets for everything. It also teaches them discipline and independence. Nowadays food is super accessible and we have so many choices available.

I think Chinese culture expresses love through food. Sometimes it’s guilt for working long hours. Sometimes it’s becAuse they grew up in poverty and neglect. My parents told me they didn’t even have rice at times. So we are fed and fed. My mom and dad worked a lot. I was a small and sick child. So I was over fed by mom and grandma. I remember being forced to eat And Forced to drink 3 mugs of milk at 6 . And I would throw up.

"China is fastly becoming Americanized" could have summed it up expeditiously.

This is such a terrible approach. You’re supposed to show them that exercise can be fun and makes you feel good, instead of trying to force them into shape. Lead by example

Instead of wasting thousands on these rigid camps they could assist elderly people with cutting gardens and other tasks to keep active and help society.

I feel bad for the kids, in a way, as it's the parents feeding them and causing them to go to camps.
