The egos of people like this are also satiated by seeing things destroyed, if they feel slighted, or ultimately realize they can't get what they want, they're happy to see it ruined, even if they ruin it for themself. It's a sick and painful experience to be targeted by a person like this.

The Malignant Narcissist is often referred to as "The Destroyer, " of which they proudly wear that moniker as a badge of honor. To them, it's not just only the end game that brings them joy, it's the journey of watching their victims suffer along the way with the glee in their eyes & proud smirk. That alone, provides them massive supply.

When I was in the university studying politics, I used the copy of the Prince that my narcissistic father owned. He underlined a couple parts and made notes on the side. most of the notes were a parallel between ruling/being authoritarian and marriage. It revealed a lot of how he thinks about his relationship with my mum. it made a lot of sense... and it was pretty scary to read his notes.

My most recent experience with this type chilled me to the bone. It was two men working in tandem. Their grooming/predatory behavior was sexual in nature, and their scheme lasted for over a year. They assumed I would be easier to manipulate, but they were wrong. They became frustrated with my noncompliance and blurted out the truth in their frustration, not realizing they were outing themselves as sexual predators. Then they verbally harassed me when I called them out for it. The worst part? They both work in education here in CA.

On a MUCH happier note, congrats on your podcast! I want you to be able to share your message with the whole freaking world!!

I LOVE her authentic anger about politicians. It's so refreshing she's not afraid to state the rage we all feel right now. It was naive of me to think our government was becoming more for the people. But that’s narcissistic abuse for ya.

Knowledge is power. Understanding is wisdom. This video is saving lives, both figuratively and literally.

Most interesting thing I've ever learned about Machiavelli: it seems that he actually wrote "The Prince" to expose and poke fun at the current rulers in a way that was obvious to normal folks while still ringing true to the people he was exposing. Machiavelli had been exiled, his life destroyed, with no way back. And he wrote this story in a way that showed the citizens how to spot the dangerous things that kings have always pretended was necessity, but without putting himself at greater risk for exposing it.

This is my mom. I'm 44 and have been TERRORIZED every minute of it. I gray-rock every moment of my life.

Nicollo is actually misunderstood.
Most scholars agree that he was writing about the Medici’s, and documenting their evil deeds.
All that aside, whenever you have to deal with one of these creatures don’t call them out, just run. You’re only means to an end.

Machiavelli was a good person....he just exposed the reality of humanity ..

I got tired of being abused and used by these type of people and read the 48 Laws of Power to educate myself. Really eye opening to learn about them and the way they think. A lot of great examples where the author used historical figures and explain their behaviors. I protected myself from a boss who exploit me to no end. It was chilling to see how much empathy she lacks. “Charming and empathy” up front, but when you get inside her world, it’s the entire opposite. I no longer fall for the charming appearance of others. I’m thinking about reading the 33 Strategy of War or the Art of War next. The Laws of Human Nature is a great book as well.

Wow, you just described my brother. One time he was in town and wanted to get ice cream. We told him no, we are trying to lose weight. We were going to his daughters graduation party soon after, and he BEGGED us not to get her a gift. When we went to the party, all of a sudden he said, HEY EVERYBODY LETS OPEN PRESENTS NOW.He had his revenge planned with in minutes of us saying no to the ice cream.

So subtle are some of these folks that it takes years before realization hits us. I've been single a very long time, and have dated plenty. This behaviour is common and quite frankly can be very detrimental in so many ways, that it's safer to stay happily single and alone, avoiding dating all together.

I love this one. You’re describing politicians, Unfortunately. I’m glad others like you are smart and see this for what it is. I watch you all the time and you’re one of my favorites. Thank you for all your insights. Narcissism is what I deal with, my mother first, my sister and my husband. Unfortunately you end up married to narcissists if you’re raised by one, and I’m constantly trying to learn and overcome. It’s a long road but I’m learning things I never would have otherwise understood

So happy you decided to introduce this topic. Entering into a relationship with a person who has one of the Dark Machiavellian complexes of traits can literally become deadly. I feel Machiavellianism is harder to recognize at first, unlike the over-the-top ‘bombing’ of the narcissist. Consequently, it’s easier to become involved, until you realize you are not just involved…you are entrapped. In today’s troubled world Dr. Ramini, I see you as a Lighthouse helping those navigating the often rocky shores of interpersonal relationships. Thank you with much deep respect!

I remember reading in Psychology about the dark triad that consists of Machiavellianism, Narcissism and Psychopathy. Some of my family members exhibit these qualities. Machiavellianism combined with the other two are very cruel, sadistic and disturbing behaviours. Thanks Dr Ramani and also looking forward to your podcast! ☀️

Wow! Machiavellians sound more frightening than narcissists. At least narcissists have ‘tells’. Thanks, Dr Ramani!

I can absolutely relate. My covert narcissistic sister’s step-daughter is Machiavellian (among other mental issues) and has been so all her life. Between the two of them, they’ve destroyed the family. The step-daughter, when just a child, would come to our house and was able to stir up fights between us sisters, never be involved and just stand back and watch. We were alerted to this by our mother and I called her out. She stopped that but continued her behavior elsewhere. Her own mother called her and her overt narcissistic husband out, and of course, they disowned the step-daughter’s mother. She was recently able to do what she’s wanted forever-drive a wedge between my sisters and I. I say good riddance to them all but am AMAZED at the level of lying, deception and evil I saw in her. She sat in front of me and lied without blinking an eye till we caught her by having her admit to changing her behavior to me. You should gave seen her reaction to being caught in her lie! It was textbook. She nearly got up to run, sat mute, waving her arms in front of her and finally lunged toward her husband. I still laugh at the mental sight of her doing that. She was caught and she knew it which pissed her off entirely. She then lied to my disturbed sister which set her off. I knew it was over between us, so I called out that sister’s narc ways, and was told “I’m not like that! I don’t do those things!” all while speaking the most cruel things she could think to say. Gee, good thing she’s not like that… God can have them all; I will have nothing further to do with the lot.
