Machiavellianism refers to a personality trait that is characterized by an ability to be extremely manipulative, deceitful, and cunning as a means to achieve one’s goals, such as POWER or STATUS, and It’s one of the three tenets of the Dark Triad, which includes narcissism and psychopathy. Individuals with a machiavellian personality profile can be incredibly manipulative. Put it this way, if someone with the machiavellian trait was a soul reaper, manipulation is their "zanpakuto". So, are you dealing with a Machiavellian person? Watch this video to find out.

The scariest thing about machiavellianism is that, unlike other dark triad personalities, such type of behaviour actually makes sence and really beneficial. Or is it just me? :O

The ironic sad part of "Machiavellianism", is that Machiavelli was demonized for his observations and recording them down. The common interpretation of his work is basically, "This is how to be the villain." However, rephrase this interpretation to, "Dear reader, if you see these traits, this is someone who is acting villainously!", then you get something very different. His work comes across more as a warning and a 'red flag' system for anyone to look for, kind of like a 'training manual for whistleblowers' in some ways.
I'm more inclines to describe someone who has a 'Machiavelli' personality type as one that is extremely observant and analytical, rather than manipulative and villainous.
How would you confront, or help someone who is going through 'Machiavellianism', or is doing it, but unaware of it?

I remember scoring “High-Mach” on a Machiavellian test at school and liking his book “The Prince”, but I typically don’t go out of my way to be Machiavellian. Truthfully, I just want a peacful life to do things I wanna do

honestly this channel is underrated as a resource for writers. only an amateur in what I do, but videos like this are good starting points for portraying characters with problematic personalities in a convincing, believable, and comprehensible way. thank you!

Psilocybin saved my life. I was addicted to heroin for 15 years and after Psilocybin treatment I will be 3 years clean in September. I have zero cravings. This is something that truly needs to be more broadly used in addiction treatment.

🚨Well done!
Sometimes we can't avoid people with this kind of behaviour for example at work. Combatting Machiavellianism by being authentic.
The most important advice is to remember our core values and to adhere to principles and set objectives that meet these values. Focus on displaying our positive personality traits and strengthen our own self-worth.

I work with a female and a male who exhibit these traits to a freggin in everyone else’s business (needlessly), sucking up to the bosses, talks behind everyone else’s back, bullies to make themselves look good…Just rotten people, but weak if you really call them out! Most of us in the company avoid them like the plague….Ironically, they both are best friends…LOL. One recently got voted into a “meager” position within our Union, while the other one manipulated workers into voting for “his” candidate…😏. Both spread lies, and manipulated a lot of young workers into those votes…….Glad I watched the video.

Fun fact, Machiavellian himself whom this term is named after was in reality just a pragmatist. He believed that democracy/republicanism was the ideal thing, but simultaneously believed that an autocratic king might be what was needed to unite Italy into a singular kingdom so that a republic may arise. Basically a person who wanted the best, but accepted that more nefarious means might be required for the end goal

Makima, Griffith, Homelander, Omni-Man, Stormfront, Junko Enoshima, and many others are chilling examples of these…fiction just gave them superpowers or in Junko’s case, a whole lot of money and a massive ego.

I always find it funny and sad because my family is made up of the dark triad. Just about every female in the family are Narcissistic, what was funny was how ALL of them always accused my grandfather (Narcissistic grandmother's ex husband) of being Narcissistic when in reality all of those who accused him of being one were the real narcissists while he was actually Macavalian.

Edit: I love the fact that a handful of people feel like I'm the Narc projecting when I'm literally going by the 20+ therapist & psychologist that practically raised me 75% of my life because of how bad/toxic/abusive my family was. No CYS/CPS didn't care about the drugs and abuse going on so I got to live in that hell for 20 years of life.

What's funny is that my eldest sister who is Narcissistic also chose a partner that's also Machiavellian like our grandfather (the pattern between the men and women in my family had always intrigued a good chunk of my therapist and psychologist growing up).

But yes I'm totally the Narc here that's projecting, I mean I'll have to tell all of my past therapist and psychologist that they were wrong about me all these years and some teeny bops with no degrees online clearly have a better understanding then them lol

Machiavelli gets a bad rap these days. “The Prince” was basically just a handbook for lower-level royalty figures during the Renaissance period on how to avoid being assassinated

I'm Machiavellian and I'm not a piece of garbage. Your personality can align with this construct without it meaning you're automatically evil. I have very deep, meaningful relationships. But do I sometimes plan so far into the future that it almost doesn't make any sense for right now? Yes 🤣. We are patient people who are not impulsive and will work very hard for a long time to get what we want. There's nothing wrong with that.

I know a family infested with both covert and overt narcissists. It's either they're infallible or the woe is me type who claim to be the most victimized in history and would down play the struggles of others, even if they are kids dying of cancer, while refusing to help themselves or seek help.
