Wow! Plantar Flexion vs Dorsiflexion. First steps his feet landed with toes pointing downward. Last strides he landed with toe off or up in positive upward position. He created more spring in his step!

The difference is subtle, with the green V, the knee drives forward/up, with the red x, the knee goes down. To run correctly, knees have to go farward/up.

His ankles were locked in a 90 degrees in the second footage while it went wider than 90 degrees when he lifted it up from the ground in the first footage. The first is wrong (ankles wider than 90 degrees) and the second is right (ankles locked in 90 degrees)

Couple things:
Bad form he was striking the ground with the heel

Good form he was striking the ground with the ball of the foot. He does this by subtly shifting his weight forward while dorsi flexing his feet more (pointing his foot upwards from the ground as opposed to flat or downwards).

He was also driving his knees higher in the good form, which a lot of people missed. Running is a multi joint activity where poor biomechanics at one joint are often impacted by poor biomechanics at the joint above or below.

Land and push from ball of your foot, during the loading and midstance, the lifted foot is behind but also pointed at the ground (dorsi flexion) . the improper form has the runner striking the ground heel first and with the lifted foot in plantar flexion

My track coach gave us was too much work on the first 2 weeks of practice. We are sprinters and we went right into speed endurance. We should’ve started with distance to warm up
