My 7 year old is constantly wasting food. I told him there are kids that would dig the wasted food out of our trashcan and gladly eat it. He couldn't believe it, so I finally showed him different videos of malnourished children, living in the slums. Skin and bones, crying bc they are starving and some dying bc of lack of medication and food and bc of contaminated water. I just want my son to be thankful for what he has. I want him to understand why we pray and thank God for our food and for everything we have. I know he's only 7 but I want him to be thankful for what he does have.

My son threw a huge tantrum and refused to eat his food so I took it away from him and showed this to him, he apologised and ate his food. Children need to understand how fortunate they are to have what they have, videos like this help them understand.

Someday when I’m older, I’m going to travel to the worst parts of Africa and do everything I can possibly do to make the poor and starving kids lives better. I wouldn’t feel deserving to grow up in such a beautiful home without doing my part to give the same to others in need.

UPDATE: I joined Canada's Armed Forces 6 months ago and it was the best choice of my life. If any career is all about helping people its this!

I'm from the kibra slums in Kenya not very far from where he is and I visit there sometimes even and let me tell you life here is survival...even getting food twice a day here is rare and the way he said Joshua didn't choose to be born in poverty made my cry because I didn't choose either 💔💔
