I've been using the 2022 M2 MacBook Air with the 8=core CPU and 10-core GPU as my primary machine for over 6 months now, and have recently grabbed the 14-inch M2 MacBook Pro with the M2 Pro chip which I have been using a ton over the last couple of weeks. Upgraded last year, from my 2012 MacBook Pro 13", to a MacBook Air M2, 1TB drive, 16GB RAM, 10-core GPU, in midnight. Yes, it cost almost as much as the 14" Pro. However after years of lugging around huge laptops, I wanted something light and ultraportable, but powerful. For me this laptop is incredible, especially coming from my intel laptop. Although the cost upfront was high, it is exactly what I wanted and this investment will last me many years of happy computing. Super happy!

I got the base model M2 Air when it came out last summer. That laptop will honestly be plenty for most people. I work with Photoshop and do some audio editing every week. It's not the heaviest workload, but this machine handles it no problem. Unless you are going to be doing more intensive tasks, the base model has plenty of power. Very well put together and informative video.

I got the Macbook Pro yesterday.. 0 Regrets this thing is a beast, very expansive but I feel like I can accomplish anything with this machine and the display alone makes it worth it..

The screen is the reason I upgraded to the 14" MBP. I found it much easier on my eyes. However, there is something to be said about the thinness and lightness of the Air. It is easier to pack and carry, and even though the weight difference is 1 pound or less I really notice the difference,

Had the mackbook pro 16 and was conflicted due to the size. Recently sold the 16" and bought the mackbook air and let me tell you, I'm loving it.

I ended up just getting an Apple refurbished 16" M1 MBP. My previous MBP was 15" so i didn't want to go smaller. Saved over $500 over a new one. It looks brand new.

I got the M2 Air and I am very happy. I upgraded to the 16 Gig Ram and 1T Hard Drive in Starlight. I use it as a portable and love the size. I put it into my briefcase and it travels well. I only occasionally edit 5 minute videos so more than enough power. Zoom calls, Notes, Pages and Numbers with a little Keynote tossed in. Contacts and research work well. I am not a power user and expect this machine to last me a number of years. My 2012 Retina MBP lasted me well for 8 years. I retired it when during the pandemic I got a 2020 iMac 27 which I love to use.

Purchased M2 16 / 512 for Typescript / Webpack compiling and the odd Photoshop. Portability is more important than power gain in my case. Not that I need that much of it to begin with. I've read somewhere that the M2 has single thread optimizations, so that's a nice bonus for JavaScript programmers in particular.

I’m debating between these two and I don’t need the power of the pro but i live in a rlly hot place and im scared the lack of fans in the air will be an issue…

I just received my M2 Air this week, replacing 2019 Intel 16 inch Pro, I upgraded to 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD, and am VERY happy with it. Unless I compare Air and Pro side by side, I don't even see anything "inferior, " and what I do with it isn't worth extra $400. I should have bought it when it was out, man, it's fast!

If you are going with the base model or 512gb model the Air is an amazing laptop. If you need the lightest laptop possible then again the Air is the move. Once you start specing the Air up it doesn’t make sense. The Pro has some amazing features and the additional power is nice. The screen and speakers alone are worth the $300 premium vs a spec up Air model. Pro also feels beefy!

I'd like to see performance comparisons of a Macbook-Air (8/10 core, 24gb ram and 512gb) vs Macbook-Pro M2 base model (10/16 core, 16gb ram and 512gb).

upgraded from a super old hp laptop that couldn’t open chrome to the m2 air with 16gb ram and 512gb ssd for computer science in college. super powerful and portable i love it! i don’t plan on upgrading until m4 or even m5 comes out depending on how it holds up, but for now it’s more than enough power

M2 Pro & Max Macbook Pro’s are great but, I think the must have will be the M3 if it shrinks down to 3nm. The potential battery improvements, cooler thermals, on top of the improvement to performance I think will be game changing.

The Air will likely be the IT item to have again but maybe only if they lower the price a bit.

Lunar or Vivid makes the Pro usable in Sunlight. Its amazing when youre working outside.
Thats the only reason why i have switched to the Pro and ditched my Air.

I currently have a 17" laptop and I use it as a desktop replacement since I'm retired and don't need to take it anywhere. I would go with the 16" M2 Pro model just to have a large screen and with all the nice features of that laptop, I'm sure I would be happy with it!
