As long as you are on gear, you can train hard and often but natural you need to rest and let the body regenerate

I squat once a week and still sometimes find myself a bit sore the day before leg day. Definitely couldn’t do more than once a week and actually grow

He answered this question perfectly and I like he made the difference between exercise and training.

I remember Tom on the cover of the muscle magazines back in the day. One of my favorite bodybuilders.

That worked for Tom though so you can’t criticise his method then you have Ronnie Coleman who did everything twice a week and was a monster. Arnold over trained and he looked amazing then you had Dorian and Mike mentzer doing short workouts and they looked great so no training method is wrong just find what works for you and don’t get injured guys. I would go with volume to avoid injury as HiT you’ll definitely destroy your limbs at some point as volume is more sustainable . Plus even Dorian said you can only do HIT training method for about 5 weeks then switch to normal training as you’ll fry your nervous system.

Well you have 2 options it seems, either train with less intensity more frequent or train hard as fuck less frequent. I choose full intensity.

"Overtraining". Is not a word Tom is familiar with.

Tom is all about practicality and realism rather than ego.

I do legs twice a week but 1 day is quads focus, the other glute/hams, calves 3 times a week, , really depends on how good your leg genetics are etc

I train legs twice a week. For my first leg day I do Tom’s routine where he has you perform between 8-12 sets of squats. For my second day I’ll choose a leg workout from the Beachbody app, either legs & back from P90X or any leg workout from either Lift4 or 10 Rounds.

The thing is, Tom was right about undertraining but he was WAY TOO extreme, I sometimes do his leg day just for fun, because there's a point where you're not training for hypertrophy anymore, only for muscle damage.

You need to trian to the point you can barely stand then when you feel you have enough energy and motivation to get back and try to do more is when your ready to train again.

If you train while tired or sore your just diggin a deeper hole before the body has had a chance to adapt which lead to regression
