The city of gold were pyramid structures where the SUN shined upon giving it a golden look. Yes some areas had gold built within to attract strong sunlight also creating a portal to other worlds.

I found the 7 cities, errr 7 towns anyways. Here in texas, east. The 7 towns are connected by a terrain feature. Theres for sure lots of silver, but im not sure about underground digging. Ill sell the final map for 10 grand.

Its Cibola and the 7 cities of gold El dorado means the golden one, I believe that the Inca's put a veil over the place so the Spanish couldn't take anymore.
