Cannot explain how visiting this unique rock formation affected me. It’s humbling, puzzling, inspiring and more. No wonder it puzzles people.

I remember seeing this for the first time in Stephen Speilberg's classic movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" in 1977. One of the best alien films ever put to screen.

I used to work with a guy a few years ago who would go on vacations out West and talk about this and was a firm believer that it was a large petrified tree stump that survived from biblical times or beyond

The devil's tower looks like a giant tree stump.

It's a petrified giant tree stump from the times before the Flood ( of hot water- Noahs flood). Especially because the water was hot, everything that became petrified eventually turns into rock. They even found humungous leaf formation on the ground not too far from it. It has the leaf shape with the leaf veins.

Standing at the base is an awe inspiring experience. One can see it from I 90, but it's better up close! Well worth the trip!

It’s the leftover bean stalk that jack left behind.

It's actually a huge tree stump that's petrified. You all are over thinking it.

A stone was layed on the ground by 7 siblings being chased by a huge bear, and they each put a foot on it and it and it grew so big that the bear was clawing and clawing but could not reach them. The siblings then became stars and are now the Big Dipper.

20 The tree you saw, which grew large and strong, with its top touching the sky, visible to the whole earth, 21 with beautiful leaves and abundant fruit, providing food for all, giving shelter to the wild animals, and having nesting places in its branches for the birds— 22 Your Majesty, you are that tree! You have become great and strong; your greatness has grown until it reaches the sky, and your dominion extends to distant parts of the earth.

Basically, 7 siblings were beings chased by a great bear. So they asked for help. The tower grew with them on top, from the bear. The bear clawed and clawed. Then it said "you're safe for now." By that time the siblings were long gone. Now they rest as the pleiades cluster system.

It is absolutely a petrified tree from an ancient time. A time when all things were very big.
