Strategies for Overcoming Mental and Emotional Fatigue

I don’t share this with you as a sob story. In fact, it’s not something I like talking about.

But I figure if it’s something that I deal with quite often, it’s likely something you deal with too.

I’m an ambitious man. And, like any high-achiever, the stress and frustration of not experiencing the results we desire as quickly as we’d like gets to us from time to time.

So, I thought I’d share with you a couple of counterintuitive ideas for getting yourself out of the funk you’re in and back into the battle.

I wish I could tell you that being a hard-charger was easy. It isn’t. It’s actually really stressful at times.
.
But the older I get the more I realize that a man’s ability to pump on the brakes from time to time is what allows him to go as fast as possible other times.

Take care of yourself, fellas. 👊🏻⚒

Whenever I feel down, I recognize that it's because I shifted all attention toward myself in a negative way.
Instead of having so much disappointment and frustration in myself for not getting things done, I shift my mindset.
Rather than seeing exercise or reading as a chore, I see it as an opportunity to improve myself.
In addition to this, I ask myself "Will being frustrated or disappointed have any positive impact on my life? Will these thoughts matter in the long run?".
It serves as a helpful reminder for what I need to be doing for the day so I can continue getting after it.

Thanks brother for being open and sharing these lessons with us. I get immense value from OOM and The Iron Council. I am implementing these lessons and skills and sharing them with others.

I feel we are coming from. When it comes to the entrepreneurial PMS. I have been running the gym for 13 years. At first as a volunteer for the police department. And then for the last six years as a small business. As you know, we are on sabbatical. While I do miss my kids and my friends in the program. It is giving me a chance to take a step back and re-evaluate certain things. I'm enjoying being dad right now to a 17 yr old.

Thanks for the video, Ryan. I've actually been in this rut for months. I had to step away from one of the main things that I felt was getting me closer to my goals back in the fall. Since then I haven't had motivation or direction for much of anything.

1. Encourage yourself for what you have done well! It is not only a duty to perform, it is a privilege, and you earn your OWN respect for what you achieve! 2. After you acquire a good habit, when it is engrained, ease off the "disciplined" approach necessary to set it up and instead give it space to unfold. THese two things helped me.

Disengage is great! I usually take the extra time to think it thru.
I needed to make a business call the other day & I chose to wait until late afternoon & think of all the approaches to take.
It went great rather than talking when I wasn't ready.
Archery is awesome!

I don't have the dream result, but I would like to say thank you for sharing. I'm having the same thoughts. The situation is getting hopefully better each day, regarding C19, in my simple mind, I want to stand up and help, be the man\leader that gives hope. This will pass; we will be fine. I'm doing it daily, working in the front line as a medic, some days are just hard. I relate to the working out\gym closure, missing my"therapy".

Stay save and healthy and all the best from 🇮🇸

Sir! That is EXACTLY what I have now also. Especially when you are really moving on a good and worthwhile project, the heaviness of the responsibility, even of a worthwhile project, can first pull you down initially. I hundred percent empathise with that.

Less specific expectations helps a lot. Positive outcomes can even come from negativity... it's all about perspective 😎
