Its a zeppelin bend, not knot. A zeppelin knot is tied back on itself.

I was always a basic reef knot bitch despite the known and experienced weaknesses. Coming round the the sheet bend, bit this does look nice.

As you pointed out, this knot works when the two ropes are the same. When using different knots the better knot is the Sheet Bend. Thanks for sharing.

I’d recommend a square knot for combining two ropes, it’s practical, works on different thicknesses of rope, and it looks pretty neat

A reef not or a fisherman’s bend can also work and they can also be easier that is why in sailing they are used all the time.

a skipper once told me that all these kinds of knots are almost impossible to undo if under tension while the can be very easily undone when they aren't tense. I find this incredible!
