It's called a Scaffold Knot, Ashley #1120, technically a hitch.

It's a strong knot, with no sharp bends under stress, and the free end leads neatly back along the standing part of the line, where it can be neatly seized for greater security.

I have one of these knots instead of a traditional eye splice on the main halyard of my sailing yacht, the reason being that it's Spectra for which an eye splice calls for a very long bury that won't pass the masthead sheave. So, ironically, this high tech line has to be given a traditional treatment. It's held for seven years so far, so I think it's proven to be a suitable knot for the purpose.

Looks nice, but the 2nd loop won’t hold much load. Figure 8 or bowline if your life depends on it.

Was done with the musac at second wrap

It's like a Hangman noose with 2 loops. I can do a Hangman noose. It's done differently with only one loop, and the tucking in is done at the start.

goofy way of making a "hangmans noose"

I learned something! I use a “fisherman’s knot” on many of my products. I like the extra pass through the eye of the hook! I’m going to try it and see if it dresses nicely as it tightens up.

Well, THAT was about 2 minutes longer than it needed to be.

Looks like a hatchet knot.
You'll need a hatchet to get that thing out.

I was raised on a ranch and I have never seen this knot. The bowline is easy to learn, can be undone and has endless applications.

Adapted from the classic “hangman’s knot”. Knots use friction to keep them from slipping. With all the coils, this knot will NEVER SLIP. But it takes a minute and some skill to tie. I use knots like this all the time.

So it's basically one of the knots my gramps taught me for fishing. Cool but while adequate for crappie, it won't handle bass.

That knot really can’t be that “ essential”, I’m 49 years old and iv survived perfectly well without knowing how to tie it.

Great training video... you taek your time, show the impotrant angles, pause at just the right moment. Easy to follow along at home.

Good to get a second loop through the eye of the hook. Gives a factor of safety when the rope abrades or takes a shock load.

Just use a bow line much more efficient

It's a knot I use often and three turns is enough. I use it on dinghy painters and they stay good forever

it's a clove hitch, just a clove hitch with a bit decoration.
depending on what you use it for it might ba creative fuffy thing to use it (I.e. hanging an hammock, or a plant in your porch)
for professional/safety use it would be just a very fast lane to unemployment, via a severe beating from any colleagues .
but yes, you can hang a pot with that

a good knot is one that you can tie, and have it hold, and then untie.
