The best way to describe Cabbage Rolls is just plain and simple, comfort food at its best. This amazing dish can be served anytime of the year and the sides are endless. When we're having family or friends over i often think of Cabbage Rolls because they are easy to prepare and they never disappoint, and kids love them. One of the the reasons i love cabbage rolls is because you can serve a few or even a crowd, and because they can be prepared ahead of time and they also freeze well, and you just can't beat that, you can freeze the cabbage instead of boiling it if you like but I've always boiled it without a problem and i like to use the left over cabbage for a salad or coleslaw. I hope you give this dish a try. ❤️

375° 1 1/2 hours
INGREDIENTS ______________
1 Large Cabbage (core removed)
1 Tbsp Olive oil
1 Small chopped onion
3 large Garlic cloves (finely minced)
3 C. Crushed tomatoes
1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
1/2 tsp Onion Powder
Pepper as needed
Salt as needed
Handful chopped fresh Parsley
1 C. Tomato Sauce
Non Stick Spray

MEAT FILLING _____________________
1 1/2 lbs Lean ground beef
1 1/2 C. partially boiled rice
1 Handful freshly chopped Parsley
1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 tsp Onion Powder
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
Pepper as needed
Salt as needed
1 egg

SIDE OF YOUR CHOICE
I chose Mashed Potatoes

I made the cabbage rolls today and they were poetic.
I think in another life if Rachel wasn’t a cook she would be a therapist. I cannot ever remember listening to such a soothing affirming voice.
In any case three grandchildren ( aged 2, 5 and 7 ) devoured them as did their grateful parents. New potatoes are in season in British Columbia so I served them with those. My preference for the cabbage rolls would definitely be mashed potatoes.

Rachel, I made these and divided in half. We had half for dinner & I gave the other half (5 rolls each) to my 92 y/o Polish neighbor. She loved them & was so appreciative because she doesn't cook much at her age. (She is in very good shape for 92 & does water aerobics with me 3 times a week!)
She said they reminded her of her Mom's! Thanks for helping me share some good memories with my neighbor!!!

Rachel, your cabbage rolls also look delicious! My grandma from Hungary showed me how to make her version of Hungarian Cabbage rolls! She taught me when I was first married and in my 20’s! I am now 75 and still make them the same way she did! So delicious!!❤️

Sounds great. I am 82 and have made cabbage rolls for years. I'll try your sauce recipe. I use 1/2 beef and half ground pork. You're a great cook.

For those who love saurekraut, you can buy a whole head of saurekraut cabbage. My Grandma just rinsed it - no need to boil it as the leaves are soft. Find it beside the regular one. Love it but it makes me thirsty as all-get-go.

My husband’s family is Polish, we love Golabki. We like ours baked with a layer of sauerkraut on top. Yours looked good too.
