We take a few Parcil Safety gas masks out and put them through their paces. As a firefighter, allow me to toss in some tips and tricks.
First, put all of your gas mask straps on the most open setting. Then get your hair out of the way (yes, for a beard that sadly means shaving, especially with these under-pressure filter masks), look at the sky and tighten the lowest straps first. Go symmetrical and get the left and right strap at the same time, then work your way up. That way you form the mask to your face the best and don't pull up your chin. Then, put a hand over your opening or filter and suck. If the mask gets sucked to your face you have a good seal, if you pull air from somewhere you need to redo it or your mask is broken.

For someone who did spent hours and hours in NBC training, I like to point few things out. An hour under a mask when resting is no issue, however once you exert yourself things change fast. The worse thing our instructors did to punish us is to made us sing under the mask. You also need to change filters regularly and often the mask alone is not sufficient, you also need in case of nerve agents a poncho as minimum protection. So if you expect a mask will protect you in a chemical or nuclear war without training and plenty of filters, it will not.

Keep in mind, restricted breathing puts stress on cardiovascular system, for work at a municipal trash incinerator, the air can be toxic in certain locations and requires wearing respirators, to qualify to work with a respirator you have to pass health check-up fitness test. Shtf anything goes.

I'm pretty sure the "ballistic rated" means impact resistant according to ANSI Z87 (construction). Might offer a good level of durability and some shrapnel protection, but definitely won't stop a bullet.

IIRC, for CS and pepper spray, you want a filter that says it protects against organic chemicals.

I wish you would have mentioned the importance of being clean shaven for a gas mask to work correctly.
Some viewers may think you brought Shawn on so you could keep the demonstration going.
A good seal is important to a properly working mask. Shave your face, mustach is allowed but not below the top lip.

If I didn’t need to have one for work I probably wouldn’t have one. It’s a bit too prepper otherwise. It definitely only works if you are clean shaven and it’s much more comfortable if you have supplied air hooked up.

Dont forget about a good pouch for your gas mask. The Galls TE210 is the pouch I now use and it works very nicely, (compact size and felt lined). Mira also makes a good pouch, and surplus MOLLE gas mask pouches by Eagle Industries also work nicely and are cheap.
The old school ALICE field/training butt pack can also work as a good pouch. I made up a shoulder strap using a length of 1" nylon webbing and two snap hooks and attached it to the d-rings of a butt pack and carried my gas mask like that for years and never had a problem with that set up. (in fact the only reason I switched to the Galls pouch was my butt pack is in the old M81 woodland camo pattern and, keeping up with the Joneses)

As a former nbc officer in an infantry company, I want to know what level of protection is offered from CS to VX. If the nerve, blood and mustards are offered then do they offer full MOPP-4 kits? Because most of the bad agents absorb thru the skin.

Super important note that was left out of this video: these types of masks do not work at all if you have a bushy beard.

If you have a big beard, get a different mask or a razor.

Just a note to the viewers: If you have a full beard, a gas mask probably won't seal properly. Something to think about.

IMO it's better to just save up the extra money and purchase tried and tested masks from companies like Avon, 3M Scott, and Draeger.

Companies that make CBRN stuff aimed solely at civillians almost never have the same level of testing for their products and often cut corners or aren't transparent. Or they use existing designs and surplus items and re-label them at three-times markup.

This is life-saving and life-sustaining equipment, don't cheap out on it.
