You never know what could happen guys, that's why we prep for anything and everything. We may have major inflation, stock market crash, lockdowns, a change of career, sickness, etc.... it feels good to know that you have what you need and are prepared, in case anything should happen.

So now that I've made a foundation of medium-term foods such as canned goods and dried boxed goods that will last 2-5 years, I want to focus on long-term food storage (5-20 years). I will be putting back staple ingredients in mylar bags with O2 absorbers in my next video (1st time trying it, so wish me luck!)

Thank you guys so much for coming along this journey with me!

Its always such a good feeling to have food in the house. I lost my job and we ate off of our food storage for several months.

All medicins in tablet or capsule form do NOT go bad or expire!!!

It wil deteriorate between 80% to 90% in time, ...

I have boxes of jello long expired, hard, and clumped. Pour the boiling water over them to dissolve. It turns out just fine every time.

Lentils are great. I love sausage lentil soup, also love lentils in tomato sauce with broken spaghetti in it. Lots of recipes online.

On your dried milk and potato flakes, get some of the brown lunch type paper bags, fill with an amount that you might want to use at a time and roll over the top part of the bag and tape with some painters tape. Put the brown paper bag in a vacuum seal bag and vac/seal. You can then put those in food grade bucket. Small portions are then ready to use as needed. Place instructions from box/bag in bucket. You can do same with oatmeal too. Freeze potato first and bring back to room temp before storing.

Great haul! We love the cracked pepper and olive oil Triscuts!!! We use the 1gal mylar bags too, because the size is perfect and never too heavy. We do put the filled bags into another sealed container for extra protection. You'll will end up with a ton of bags because they will each hold about 5lbs of product. I promise you...you wont get sick as long as you make sure the bags are totally sealed and inspect the food before you eat it. If the bag ends up damaged or the contents look or smell rotten just throw it away.🙌😊

The otc's are usually good for at least a year after expiration date if it hasn't been opened. Alot of hospitals send their outdated meds to other countries if they're still sealed. I have friends who work in the medical field who told me this.

You are doing a amazing job. You can do either millar bags or canning jars. Uses the bay leave and oxygen absorber to be safe. Be sure to check around your buckets every so often to make sure no critters are bothering them. Check out Alaska Prepper, Prepper Nurse One and Sutton's Daze older videos. Sutton's Daze will also give you cooking ideas for lentils and beans.

When you open your 02 absorbers, don't leave them exposed to air. Take out what you need and use them within 10 minutes. Immediately seal the rest in a jar or use your hair straightener to reseal the bag. Left open to the air and they are no good.

You can put pretty much anything in mylar. I would buy small sizes like quart size, to be a meal-size portion. Always put an extra oxygen absorber in the mylar bag. Also, make sure you seal it in two places.

I know you are a true local island girl when you talk about how freezing it is in Florida!😃

When I was starting out I watched National Geographic's doomsday preppers series on tv or on YouTube! You will learn a lot about mylar. The biggest thing I can suggest is never put your food storage in the freezer before putting in mylar, I know it kills the bugs but it also introduces moisture inside the seed that will in the long run soil, instead use oxygen absorbers and they will kill insects (no oxygen). I also learned that oxygen absorbers get rid of oxygen but that's not the only thing in air, so don't always get a pretty sucked in bag! Another tip is never store your mylar or #10s on the ground because they will absorb the moisture from your slab! And lastly, expiration dates on cans are put there to drive you the consumer back to store so they can get more money, there's been many studies on this, unless its meat we add a year to our ex dates but there's been studies of adding 20 years and food was fine! Have fun, love your channel and doggie! :)

Great job Sunshine. Sorry to hear about your possible job change. You can indeed use Mylar on your dry goods - I recommend at least 500cc on a one gallon bag. I use a 2000cc in a 5 gallon bucket bag. One thing you don't want to use an oxygen absorber with is sugar. It will make it hard as a brick. If you have a hair flat iron you can use that to seal your bags with.
You wont get sick from your dry pack foods - one - it needs oxygen to grow most earth bound bacteria's. Two - you'll be cooking the foods when you go to use them that will kill anything that might be there. One tip with Mylar bags is to cut the corners round so the points don't poke holes in your other bags.
If you don't have a rodent problem you can store your bags in carboard boxes - other wise you'll need a rodent resistant container.
With your mashed potato's, since they are dehydrated and not freeze dried - there is still a tiny bit of moisture in them and will store 5 to 7 years. For longer shelf life I recommend tossing in a desiccant pack along with a O2 absorber. It will extend it to 10 years +.
When can we expect another bread video?

I put all my rices, beans, flour etc. in quart freezer bags then add two to three of them in Mylar. When you open for use u don’t have to leave large amounts open. Just reseal Mylar. Don’t buy what you don’t eat.

I vacuum seal alot of my dry goods, but I've got a lot in mylar too. I prefer the vacuum sealing now. As long as you keep the vacuum sealed packages in a dark bin, your good. I have instant potatoes in mylar, should be no issues with just the plain nothing added potatoe flashes. I have the nonfat milk in vacuum bags. I get the smaller packs (quart size from Great Value), place them in a vacuum sealer bag but snip each bag first. That way all the air is removed but the milk is in nicer, smaller portions. The bigger bags I had gotten before I switch to this metod, I vacuum sealed in half gallon mason jars.

Lentil soup, lentil sloppy joes, Moroccan lentil stew. Or really any sub for ground meat, like a casserole or even pair it with pasta for extra protein. I get alot of ideas from pinterest if I get stuck on what to make

Alaskan prepper has amazing video, talks you through step by step!!! You can definitely put all that in bags. BUTTT caution on powder getting into tube (machine) TIP!!! put 2 cups flour in brown bag fold over. Place in mylar bag and you will not have to worry about that. Mark bag and you will have fresh flour for many years. Do research on foods that go rancid like nuts and ground coffee. But instant coffee & instant potatoes are amazing to store long term. Good luck 👍

Nice haul. I’m not a long term storage expert either. It’s a little scary, lol. Wishing you the best on any life changes.
