Peter won a LOT of people over when he grabbed his lapels and posed like Hartnell as he came on stage. That showed a lot of folks that he was one of them, a fan. I remember people complaining about him being too old, etc. Within a couple months I saw images of him being mobbed by young fans. Age was never an issue and Peter's chemistry with Jenna, and Twelve's relationship with Clara, was amazing and without equal. A fantastic choice and one they'll be hard-pressed to top next time around. They might very well need to score a big name like Idris Elba to top it, quite frankly.

He IS The Doctor. He was the absolute perfect choice. The definitive marriage of Classic and New. The best of all who came before in one perfect package! I adore Peter Capaldi and everything he did as The Doctor!

I remember jumping off my chair and screaming when Peter's name was announced! I knew he'd been the bookies favourite and I was delighted when it was revealed he was The Doctor! He's my favourite after David Tennant!

This was when Dr who was at its peek. I live in Canada and I remember coming home from school in 6th grade to my dad on Skype with his cousins in england showing us the live reveal show

I have to be honest here, i didn't have mich faith in capaldi, but i also didn't have faith in tennant at the end of season 1, and didn't on smith at the end of season 4, same thing at the enf of 7, but capaldi was a doctor that evolved from the 1st half of season 8 to the second, and he got even better at season 9, so yeah, you are great peter, and i hope to see more of you in season 10

Peter Capaldi will be my first Doctor.

While I have seen a few New Who episodes and caught up with the gist of Classic Who and other aspects, this was all after December 25 and Time of the Doctor, so at that time I didn't acclimate myself to any of the Doctors.

But come August 23, I'll be watching Doctor Who with everybody else for the first time, with my first being Peter Capaldi. And from what I've heard from episode reviews and synopses of Series 8, it's gonna be a blast. I am massively excited, BRING IT ON!

Peter has not disappointed. What a great choice.
