This scene is pure genius, cause it's not only 11th rassuring Clara about the new Doctor, it's 11th rassuring US about the new Doctor

The way Matt delivers “I was young…” is amazing, you truly feel the Doctor speaking, not just 11. It’s truly the voice of an old man in a young man’s body, Smith was the best at that.

The most emotional part of this wasn't Clara and 11, it wasn't 11 reassuring her or even coming back. It was 12 being heartbroken about her not being able to see him.

I remember that Moffat joked about this scene, saying that Matt Smith made the fastest return ever.

"I'm not on the phone, I'm right here. Standing in front of you. Please just- just see me."
This line is always so surreal for me. I really do feel like I can see Eleven trapped inside Twelve's body crying out to Clara and to the audience. I understand that's the point, but it's still just so incredible to me how much this scene actually makes me believe it.

and now the last time they spoke to one another was on the phone.

11th was Clara's caretaker, Clara is 12th's. This is the moment when their dynamics changed.

You were about to die of old age before you started regenerating, I'd say this is a net positive

I think that Moffat realized that after Matt Smith, people might hesitate to accept an older gruff doctor right away. And since in Doctor Who, the companion is in a sense representing us, Moffat decided to let Clara have her doubts "I'm sorry, I just don't know who you are anymore.." and the phone call from 11 was created to assure her, and by extension us, that the new incarnation is still the doctor. Moffat lets us go along on Clara's journey of aceepting the new regeneration of the doctor - and helps us reach the same conclusion she does.

Omg I just realised..."You look at me and you can`t see me" That´s exactly the situation they end up. He looks at her in the diner and can`t see her... ;_;

The plea from 12 begging her to "just see me" always broke my heart. I think it almost seemed like more of a plea to the audience, sort of "Yes, I'm not Matt Smith, yes I'm not a generic 'hottie', yes I'm older, but at least give me a chance."

This scene is fantastic. The way they passed the torch to Capaldi is very beautiful. They don't just dive into him. They give us a metaphorical hug and smile from 11. One last time

I really like it when Capaldi states the obvious: "I didn't need to overhear, that was me. That was me talking." That kinda gets lost a bit in the New Series where the Doctor seems to become a whole different person but not quite. He is, after all, still the Doctor..just a different face, different body, the brain is a bit rattled, but still the same basic being. I like that was stated definitively here. Not that we won't miss Smith, but the Doctor is the Doctor. He never changes except for his personal appearance..and occasionally iffy memory.

On another level this is Matt Smith telling the fans, "Don't be afraid." Embrace Capaldi. I love this scene so much.

0:59 "And however scared you are Clara, The man you are with right now. The man I hope you are with. Believe me, he is more scared than anything you can imagine right now." This line was just so powerful for me to hear and delivered beautifully! Definitely my favorite part of this sequence.
