Inflammatory Bowel Disease Is a chronic or a long standing inflammation of the small intestine or the large intestine. In the last few years we have been seeing a arising trend of Inflammatory Bowel Disease in India whereas in the past, it used to be thought as a disease affecting the Western population, more and more people are getting diagnosed. So it is important that we understand what is the Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD for short. IBD is broadly speaking of two types. The commoner form is called as ulcerative colitis. The other type is Crohn’s disease. Crohn’s disease can affect any part of the digestive system but predominantly affect the function of the small intestine and the large intestine.
