In this video I discuss what is inflammation in the body, including acute inflammation and chronic inflammation. I also discuss the inflammatory response and how the immune system and white blood cells respond to inflammation.

Transcript (partial with notes).

What is inflammation?

Basically, inflammation is a protective response by the body to something harmful. So, for example if you cut yourself, or get a burn, your body will produce an inflammatory response to this harmful action.

Inflammatory responses are not only limited to physical harm, other inflammatory response triggers include toxins, bacteria, viruses, allergies, stress, and even some foods such as fried foods, foods with high amounts of added sugar, and refined carbohydrate foods, just to name a few.

Let’s look at one way the body provides an inflammatory response. Let’s say you get a splinter in your arm. Nearby white blood cells start to take action by releasing chemical called histamine, which tells nearby capillaries to open up.

As this happens, blood plasma enters the tissue area, slowing down any foreign invaders that may have entered with the splinter. This also causes some swelling. Other white blood cells in the area release chemicals called cytokines, which signal more white blood cells to the area.

With the capillaries being open, the arriving white blood cells can enter the tissue and help fight any foreign invaders. The result of the inflammatory response is the destruction of any foreign invaders, and any damaged tissue.

So, inflammation is good, the body protecting itself? Well, yes, acute inflammation can be good, but there is a bad type of inflammation called chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation can develop several ways, with the most common being in the form of an autoimmune disorder.

This occurs when the immune system goes into action to fight off a foreign substance, but there is no foreign substance, resulting in damage to non-infected tissues. As this happens over time, it takes its toll on the tissue being attacked.

Inflammation is a complex biological response of body tissues to harmful stimuli such as pathogens irritants damaged cells etc it is initiated by chemical signals the invading microbes release certain chemicals tissue injury causes most cells to release histamine Chemicals from microbes and histamines together cause the deletion of capillaries and increase the permeability of capillary wall as a result more blood flows to that area making it red and warm the fluid leaks out into the tissue spaces causing its swelling the reaction of the body is called an inflammatory response and is a part of internal defence

As written on my book😁😁
You explained each and everything

Would be nice to describe the painful side of inflammation? Few months ago I was getting painful inflammation to the point it was ruining my life. I changed my diet and it worked miracles. I think Science should look into diet? I just had my wrist badly injured in the weekend and immediately at first it was painful and I couldn't squeeze or move it properly but later after an hour the swelling/inflammation wasn't causing any pain and started to get a bit of strength back in squeezing but obviously not 100% until I pull my hand back putting pressure on it then was a bit sore? I thought it was weird. So I had no pain for two and half days until I started eating out of my normal diet during that period i.e. burgers with red meat, fish and chips, fast food, and this morning it was a little sore? I ate those burgers last night too? I was thinking if red meat can be the culprit in everybody's diet which some of you already know about?

My usual diet is eating kale, spinach, and lots of veges and fruits including frozen fruits blended with water as my fruit juice and drinking lots of kangen alkaline water. I also have a no added sugar diet along with no dairy as much as possible. I only started the no dairy diet just recently and ever since then e.g. no milk or greek yogurt, my body has been a lot better; no bloating, and not much gas release like farting, etc. I was a little concern not having any good bacteria but I have not been sick/dyria at all...weird during that period? Have we been brained washed from Science being convinced for decades that dairy products is actually good for you packed with good bacteria when it is Not? There is research that back these claims which is why I wanted to try no dairy and voila! My skin, and face feels smoother than before lol. Gotta try to know exactly what I mean.

Also the last two days I didn't drink much alkaline water. So something changed and it couldn't be a coincident having no pain for almost three days and then this morning a bit of pain. It is bearable but not extreme like how I had in recent years. I'm no Scientist but these signs should say something about the diet and how it respond to inflammation very well? I know my own body you have to experience inflammation from the painful side which can cause gout as well(according to my doctor) to know the changes that work. I think people get scared and rely on medication when the answer is right in front of us which is the diet. I have always been skeptic about medication especially the time I refused to listen to my doctor who was trying to convince me to take heart medication, etc. You have to be careful when it comes to your doctor who is trustworthy and especially trying to convince you to go on medication, can be a little tricky....and fair enough I have found the solution to my problem which is definitely the diet. Me and my doctor had a disagreement. I knew I was improving my results with the blood test...now he wasn't happy because my cholesterol was still high but he already knew that from my previous results which states back a few years...so asked the doctor to bring up my previous blood test results to compare(even got him to print it out) so my recent result showed more improvement and that was the time I changed my diet, and training high intensity 3-4 times a week. I even lost 10kgs before my recent result so I knew I was doing something right. Stupid doctor!! That is the hardest part is when you trusted your doctor for years despite you feel you know your own body, especially doing the basics right; diet, gym, etc, your results or body should show improvement exactly how mind did. I haven't heart hypertension since the beginning of the year and my blood pressure is lower than before...it is still a little high according to the doctor but it is a big improvement from what it was previously. I use to get hypertension from time to time for at least more than 5yrs. I didn't know at the time what it was but the doctor did say the first time my blood pressure was high? Until end of 2019 it was a bad hypertension. Since the first changes no added sugar then more fruits and veges, then recently no dairy I feel great now that I haven't had hypertension since. Well I still have to get my next blood test result to prove it despite having the burgers, and fish and chips lol the last few days. However, it has been at least 2-3 months not eating take outs or fast food. That is the longest I ever did? But I only did to get my cholesterol and other unhealthy habits down. My point is, not every doctor is going to be right? Now don't get me wrong and compare it to cancer where experts do know their stuff on more deadly diseases I won't argue with you on that :D

So my diet sounds extreme when I think about it ie. no dairy, no added sugar, only green tea, kangen alkaline water, kale, spinach, and lots of fruits and veges. This is only my basic. I do like having packet noodles with a few eggs along with the usual steamed veges lol but it is still balances out. I hope it helps another person who've struggled like me. But in all this having a good diet is one, and exercising is a must. I've trained all my life but a unbalance diet can still ruin it lol like my own body. I am not fat or not too lean but I do have a good body my stomach is flat with a solid build. The goal is to maintain or improve it even more.

When you are explaining something you must take a global view. Because everybody cannot fallow that speed. If you explain little slow many can be benefitted.
