Amazing Discrete Math Book for Beginners

In this video I go over a book that several people kept recommending. I finally decided to buy it and I worked through it and read various sections, wow. This is an awesome book!!!

The book is called Discrete Mathematics and it's Applications and it was written by Susanna Epp.

Great book. I was having trouble with my abstract algebra and analysis classes back when I was a junior. I took a step back and took a discrete math class with this book. Saved my math career and ended up with a master's degree later. Highly recommended.

This is the textbook I use when I teach discrete math.I think it's clear, especially the early chapters on proof.

It‘s for beginners. Though meanwhile I’m far beyond beginners level in discrete math, I own the fifth edition of Epp‘s book because of its inherent beauty. 🤓

Just by watching the book from your video, I can tell it's way better than the Grimaldi book.. Wow.. the content presentation looks very easy to read and very engaging as well as the exercises..not to mention it has solutions at the back..and I really like the part of the book you showed on digital circuits.. it's very interesting to have something like that on a discrete math book.. am so excited to check it out myself.. thanks for this video

Thank you for this video. I just ordered this book and it arrives tomorrow 😊 I’m doing a Discrete Maths course and it’s not going so well at the moment … hopefully this book can save me before exams in October.

I am currently reading this book and it is not an "easy read"! Some of the proofs are long and reference other proofs, much of it is very abstract, often you cannot "visualize" what the explanation says, and it has fewer examples than one would like, so if you cannot follow the logic of the argument it is really hard to understand... that being said it is a very good book.. I'm not a mathematician but it feels that it doesn't skip any steps. it's just not easy... almost half way through, I just realized that if I read the examples before the proof, understanding the proof becomes easier. So that's my advice, if you get stuck in the explanations and proofs, skip to the example(s), then go back.
