“Give it a whiff here” that was funny. Why do books smell so good it’s a good scent

Balakrishnan also wrote Schaum's Graph theory and Schaum's Combinatorics. Great books!

I’ve own this book for a couple of years now and was a great help in my Discrete Mathematics course in University!

I came here for lin diff eq help, stayed for the newer videos. The best teacher I've ever seen, a true wizard of the arcane greek symbols

i think you should make tier list/iceberg style video of books comparing their rigor & depth, difficulty of exercises, level of abstraction, advancement & prerequisites (all the different field they combine )

I bought this to help me with Discrete Math (CS) this semester. It is a very difficult course and this book has been a decent supplement as he says. It has not covered all of the topics we have gone through. It is reasonably helpful for set theory and such. Just a hard class in general, glad you said that!

hello, the math sorcerer! could you please make a video on your math journey and how you started and what inspired you? and what was a book or any other resource that helped you in your journey. And if to a beginner you could give any one advice that would help them get started on math, what would it be?

Thank you so much for your amazing videos and reading this.

Regards,
Mary Potter

Bedtime reading?
I thought the bed was for just to things: sleeping and multiplying (but not of the mathematical type).

I love the one that you presented in another video. I love discrete math. It helped me understand math in general

I have this book and it's a perfect example of that Dover maths books problem. It teaches you the set theory that you need to know in the first chapter. The second chapters may or may not use some of it. Then by chapter 3, or usually chapter 2, it abandons the set theory that it taught you. It doesnt actually connect the set theory from chapter 1 to the rest of the maths. I do like chapter 1 in this book, if you're really looking into understanding set theory to construct a foundation for your proofs. The rest of the material is better learned from a textbook.

Hi
I always enjoy watching your book review.
One suggestion
When you review a book, please consider including comments why the subject is useful.
For example, why and how discrete math is something we have to study.

Hey, I would love to see a video focusing on the essential pure mathematics every developer should know, covering topics applicable from front-end to back-end, and even AI. It would be awesome if you could break down the key areas like discrete math, linear algebra, calculus, and statistics, and show how they directly apply to real-world programming tasks. Whether it's optimizing algorithms, understanding data structures, or diving into machine learning, I think this would be super valuable for both aspiring and experienced developers. Looking forward to it!

I thoroughly enjoy the book recommendations and reviews, however, I’d appreciate if in your reviews, you’d explain prerequisites for those of us who are self studying without a university defining a path. Please keep on with your great content.

I aim to study discrete math one day, but what are the prerequisites? Do you have a course on this subject?

My favourite books on Discrete Mathematics are Kenneth Rossen "Discrete Mathematics" and Grimaldi "Combinatorial and Discrete Mathematics". I didn't read whole book of Grimaldi, because I read K.Rosen, but I read Grimaldi's very good chapter about Generative Functions. As I remember, K.Rosen's book hasn't chapters about Generative Functions.

Hi Dr. Gabilondo, would you be so kind as to share more about your college math journey with us? As an audience I would like to know a little bit about your academic experience and what area you worked on during your PhD in math.
