So you're looking for a new device for school. The 2019 MacBook Pro 13" and the 11" (and) 12.9" iPad Pros are two amazing contenders. But maybe you're wondering, which is right for you when you go to high school or college?

In this video I go into depth and compare both the MacBook Pro (my variant is 128gb) and iPad Pro in many school oriented tasks. I demonstrate word processing (document creation/typing), email writing, multitasking, video watching, PDF interaction/reading, presentation creation (Keynote/Slides/PowerPoint) and file management with both of these machines in order to help you determine which is right for you!

I can’t be the only one who loves back to school tech! I think using an iPad is better for students and on my channel I even talked about my experience using one. Thanks for being an inspiration to us all and giving us your great tech insights man👍🏽

With the introduction of the new OS I hope manufacturers start making iPad keyboards with separate usb ports similar to a laptop.

I don’t understand why anyone who’s using this for school would use the screen to type and not a keyboard

Both if you have the money. I invested in the iPad Pro as my notebook replacement and my MacBook Pro for more intensive work. Now with Mac Catalina, side car will definitely come in clutch for extra screen space and the ecosystem works flawlessly!

I recently got the iPad Pro and a cheaper keyboard case and it works amazing.

As an engineering student, the best combo I choose is a physical notebook and pen. Nothing beats the soul of hand written notes. NOTHING. You don't require a laptop/tablet on a daily basis.

When the Samsung Tab S6 comes out do a Dex only challenge. Also the keyboard covet has a trackpad. I think it would be a great laptop replacement.

I have been useing a apple iPad for school the last 4 years. I find that the iPad is good for younger school students, that have a lower work load but while moving up in to my last year of school, and moving on to college the iPad is unable to do work that is needed to take notes as well as complete assignments. I am working towards switching to a computer and this has helped to outline the reasons and help me realise that a computer is the best way to go thanks!!

He didn’t mention that you can add a blue tooth mouse, or even the Smart Trackpad to iPad and boom

To start with: I had an iPad Pro before and switched back to a Macbook because the Macbook just feels more productive and I do not have to adapt to the Macbook as much as I have to for the iPad.
Using the mouse on a Mac is much more pleasant than always relying on the touchscreen. Especially with Word documents you are more precise with the mouse.
The Mail app on the Mac is also much better than its counterpart on iOS.
Also, the Word or Pages apps on a Mac have more important functions. So you can not create an automatic table of contents in the Word app on iOS.
Power Point on a Mac is a lot ahead of Keynote or Power Point on an iOS device. The iOS version simply lacks many important features. I do not understand why?
Some messenger apps are terrible on the iPad. For example, Whatsapp is easier to use on a Mac.
Youtube videos can be run on a Mac in the background, this does not work with an iPad unfortunately.
When multitasking I like the desktops all the time in the same place, otherwise you lose the overview quickly and you can only do this on a Mac.
Looking at iPad videos is really good, but better on a Macbook, as the aspect ratio for most videos, movies, and TV shows is better on a Macbook. In addition, you can easily connect your Macbook with any video source to a TV. This is not possible with the iPad, as some apps do not support it and do not want to allow it.
It gets really annoying when the iPad is connected to an external monitor. Here, the Macbook really wins and that gives you a lot of productivity.
The iPad also lacks important functions. So you can not backup your iPhone via an iPad. You can not format your hard drive or USB stick on an iPad so that it can be used on the iPad at all.
Sure the Apple Pencil is a really great feature of the iPad and I really liked that very much, but unfortunately does not compensate for the other disadvantages for me personally. Fortunately, everyone can decide for themselves.

I bought the ipad pro for note taking because its easier to keep track with my notes and stuff. Compared with using paper which I easily lose track of. The only paper I use it the paper that comes out of my printer that I have to turn in. Macbook is for essays, research, and powerpoint
