MacBook Pro, no question. The quad-core processor will make everything faster, and will help the machine remain usable for many years.

The Air gives people what they use everyday. More battery life. They will use that feature more than editing photos, which is like not even half of the people who use this device.

After watching your video, I am still asking for the same question.
Obviously, the MacBook Air can run all the basic softwares. But, can the MacBook Air run all the softwares at once?!
Because, I heard that the MacBook Air is pretty bad at multitasking and I never seen someone trying to check if the MacBook Air can deal with an extended basic use. Like 5 PDF, 5 Words, 15 tabs on the browser including 4 Youtube videos, 2 PPT, Netflix, VLC, Spotify, Discord in the same time. Because, , if the MacBook Air is sluggish in this situation, which is what most of the students are doing all the time, it's not worth it at all!

When you first go into University, you don't necessarily and specifically know what kind of fields you might be entering down the line, therefore it's a good idea to invest the extra $200 and be safer with a tool you might need for things such as coding, modeling, video production, photo editing, and other intensive tasks; a tool that will last and be capable for the next 10 years.

i bought the pro for the lightest use...
i'm a senior student going for medicine, i believed that the power the pro has is gonna make it overall smoother and faster and performance would still work great even a few years down the line.
dunno if it was worth it now..
i wasn't about to receive the money i could save if i got the air, so i guess no loss there?

well either way i rly enjoyed the Touch Bar, and i reeky wanna use the MacBook pro, for something pro or smith it was built for.

Best review comparison I've seen so far. Very helpful as I am going into my freshman year of college and looking to pick up the Pro.

Can you do a video comparing the MacBook pro and the iPad pro for a college student Since iPadOS is finally narrowing down the difference between these two? I would highly appreciate it

This was a very informative video! One thing though. Air is slower, the graphics are lower, not the best at multi tasking which a student will need and very light, that is quite concerning but portable. Pros are faster, have better graphics, good at multitasking, has a good weight and portable too. Apart from the battery difference maybe a pro but you may always charge it as you work. In my POV I think a pro would be best; it can do more things and the extra 3 grams in weight wouldn’t really make a difference. If you are getting your first MacBook like me, I’d suggest a 13 inch pro with or without touch bar (depends on your taste) to get work done as fast as possible. Make sure to use a school discount, Black Friday, Christmas or Boxing Day sale and/or apple event which gives a free pair of beats headphones together when buying to ensure you save all the money you can. Would definitely be worth the big price.

I'd recommend the iPad Pro or iPad Air frankly. Both devices are cheaper than any MacBook for students. You also can get a variety of keyboards for typing and the Apple Pencil for handwritten notes in classes. Plus there's a rear camera if you need to quickly take a photo of the at the front of the room for quick reference later. Plus if you price compare an iPad Pro 11" at 256GB with a smart keyboard folio and Apple Pencil and then compare it to the MacBook Air at 256GB, the iPad Pro is cheaper. In addition to all that, the display on the iPad Pro is brighter than both the MacBook Air & MacBook Pro topping out at 600 nits (perfect for those outdoor reading in the quad sessions that is so stereotypical college), it's just as colour-accurate as the MacBook Pros, and it's a great display for web browsing and media consumption. And of course iPadOS is turning all iPads basically in to MacBooks anyway with better file storage (including external storage options) and better multitasking. The iPad Pro boasts 10 hour of battery life and the Apple Pencil magnetically attaches to the side for storage and recharging, making it super convenient. The iPad Pro also weighs less than the MacBook Air making it even more portable. Plus the iPad Pro, or any iPad for that matter, doesn't produce heat so there's no annoying fans turning on causing distractions and you can have it on your lap either typing with the keyboard case or using the Apple Pencil and you're not going to burn your legs off. I really do think students should consider an iPad Pro or the 2019 iPad Air as their back to school option of choice over any of the MacBooks....unless your school work requires actual desktop applications like Final Cut Pro or you need to do coding. But students in say Liberal Arts degrees or even med school or journalism or any of those types of disciplines would probably be better off with an iPad.

Being a small business owner I recommend MacBook Air for its portability. I multitask with at least 8 productivity apps open and it’s smooth. However I do notice a lag when I airplay over Apple TV for presentation.

PRO vs AIR - - - - - - - PRO WINS
I just upgraded from a 2011 mac book pro (which is still working-gave it to my mom)
I trust the reliability in the pro way more than the air.
unless your one to switch out a 1, 000+ laptop within 3-4 years, reliability is the most important.

Both are quick - but in 4-8 years which will keep its speed the most = Mac book pro
The air is lighter but Not by much - Air=2.75 - - Pro=3.02
You're already spending a lot on the laptop. Either you have a lot of money and can afford both or your already out of your price range with either laptop.
I doubt there are that many people where an extra $200 will ruin you if you're already dropping $1, 000 for the air. Your either buying it outright or putting it on credit for both laptops. Even if $200 might make you struggle a bit more its almost always worth it (especially with the 2019 lineup)

Air has only 2 hours more of battery life more than the pro. When are you not gonna have access to a charging port within 10 hours? and in those rare-rare occasions, you can't get to one in 10 hours, I doubt 2 hours will make a difference. (I haven't charged mine in 3 days and I've only been using it for mail-youtube-Netflix and Hulu)

not enough of a difference to sacrifice the 4 core processors

Only people who should really care about battery life is video editors and the alike - - but they also require the quicker computer.
The only downside for some might be the touch bar ( this is personal preference)
But I personally don't mind it.
It has more uses than faults. Ya sometimes it requires a bit of extra work to turn up and down the brightness and volume but Im not so lazy that id dies from having to tap it twice. It does, however, make video editing and normal stuff easier (just gotta get used to it)

You can still fully access the function keys as well. Just search up videos about using and setting up the bar.

As for the argument of fan noise - - BOTH are extremely quite quiet, trust me. These fans are amazing compared to my 2011. Both are very close in loudness- one being only slightly louder AND only when running major applications like video editing (WHICH WILL USUALLY NEED THE PRO.
Any application that would make the fan louder would work better on the pro anyways.

The only reason to not get it is the keyboard - - but that's on the whole line up anyways-- than its not the case of which one rather than how long till they take the butterfly out of all the lineups
