i can hardly call paying the annual tribute and ceding Armenia while being bankrupt from decades of mismanagement as being "favorable". the nomisma was debased at 14 carats to afford the mercenaries for Manzikert( lots of them abandoned the campaign before it even started). the empire had to borrow money to fight itself after Manzikert. it could not afford the terms. so... they were not favorable. at least, not for them, not at that moment. but that's how i know things. hearing the same events from multiple sources who generally tell the same story overall but have many smaller differences as to what the conditions imposed on Romanos IV were is disturbing.
