I would say remember Pompey “lost 39k” but that’s killed or captured. I assume many of the legions surrendered as ceaser wheeled around the right and took the battle. He probably lost a thousand or so but they would have been filled in by volunteers or captured solders

Well, in the Battle of Pharsalus, Pompey was no longer in his prime. At his best, he was a skilled strategist and logistician. Although he could be tactically efficient, he was not as effective as Caesar.
