As an 'unborn' Orthodox the pride of Protestant poison still affects me from time to time, the struggle is real for me. The verse in Timothy (I won't quote it) has deep roots. For any other ex-protestants struggling with this I suggest looking up St. Silouan 'Keep your mind in hell and despair not'. The pride of a personal God is detrimental to the true unity found in the true Church, we (x-prots) need to lay our minipopism at the foot of the cross and walk away. The prayers of St. Silouan are a great strength to those of us who are inclined to the 'God I know' heresies. He's not 'my' Father in heaven, He's 'our' Father in heaven. We are His body (the One, True, Catholic & Apostolic) the Church. Lord have mercy, please have mercy for my outspokeness, Your will be done.

I am protestant and I pray intercessional prayers to the Saints. Even though protestants don't typically do this, I have felt for years that it's similar to asking people I know to help me pray over certain things with me.

Very well said Fr. Peter! May God enlighten the mind of those who went their own way and reject the teachings of the Church (teachings that come from Christ Himself ofc)!

Thank you, as always.. The Lord honors his saints who have honored Him...How lovely..how right..
Would we not be HAPPY and JOYFUL and AMAZED WITH AWE before the Lord if WE were allowed to be worthy to be near HIS THRONE and pray for those left behind?
Wouldn't that be one of our great desires? (Gives me something to hope for...)
Thank you for this today...
I have never had that thought before. It was prompted by your words.. Thank you..

As a Catacumen, formerly of a Protestant upbringing, I can say, I failed to understand the utter paradox in saying that the "dead" in Christ could not pray for me and then, in the next breath, those who have died in Christ are not dead but our Great Cloud of Witness surrounding The King's Thrown. WHO better to pray for me then those who made it!?!?!

I am ashamed of my very pridefully ignorant misunderstanding. May God have mercy on we, who are still in darkness, may we all make it to His Glorious Light! Amein.

As a newer RC God bless you I was so anti Saints and praying to them but I now feel and know that I have a bigger family in heaven where as I felt so alone when I was in a full church with screaming Pentecostals and all that jumping and dancing. I feel so loved now and truly believe in the intercession of the Saints. 💕

You guys are doing really good work defending the old church. Here’s to hoping East and West one day reunite. (From a Catholic) ☦️❤✝️

Good point. I love it when an explanation is nice and succinct.

Thank you father and bless you, it's a shame so many Christian groups are divided, when there's so many Christian Martyrs from biblical times and now 2023, it's not just their life stories, but their true faith to our Father and Jesus which is why they will always be included in my prayers, plus the important message many have given us with their lives.. Godbless World Family...

This is where I’m confused. I thought everyone that dies are resting in peace until the 2nd coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. And then the dead in Christ shall rise first.

The most precious before God is the free will turned into a prayer. Through the will of a saint He can do a lot of things! He loves them! And He loves us!

Thank you for these short statements, father, on such fundamental issues of our faith. God bless you.

I do not talk to the saints that have passed, because I am not God. Scripture also instructs us that we should not be talking to any other spirits other than the holy Spirit.
We should not be talking to the dead as believers. Take heed to the warning in the scriptures or do as thou will versus His will.

No person has greater access to God than Jesus Christ and He alone is our mediator between us and God the Father (1 Timothy 2:5)

God's word is final.
Anything outside of it is a man-made.
May God have mercy on us all.
