Saying the Orthodox are the ones who changed from the first millennium is a joke. I say that as a Byzantine Catholic who is happily in communion with Rome. Our Orthodox Mother Churches are largely the same today as they were 1000 years ago. Rome is completely different today than from 100 years ago and was completely different 100 years ago than it was 1000 years ago. Let's be honest here brother.

We changed because we are no longer on communion with the Bishop of Rome?
Then Catholics changed for no longer being in communion with Antioch, Alexandria, Jerusalem and Constantinople

> they believed the Bishop of Rome could not teach heresy
> they condemned Pope Honorius as a heretic
Pick one

Ex Catholic here, I stopped fantasizing about an ethereal Rome and opened my eyes to the clown mass. Orthodoxy is the Truth.

Non of those councils teach the papacy, and the early church didn’t believe in papal infallibility, and previous bishops of Rome have been excommunicated in the early church like Leo II and Honorius. Also the schism happened when Rome excommunicated the other churches, and then they excommunicated him back.

“I say it without the least hesitation, whoever calls himself the universal bishop, or desires this title, is, by his pride, the precursor of Antichrist, because he thus attempts to raise himself above the others.” -St Gregory the Great, Bishop of Rome.

To say that the Church of the first thousand years followed Papism is completely historically ignorant. See Pope Vigilius for instance. Also, your Pope holds the doctrine that the Orthodox Church have the sacraments. If he’s right, then that means Orthodoxy has Christ, so why is the Pope needed?

the pope was not the head of the church, he was the tie breaker for ecumenical synods as rome was the 7th church. the ither 6 churches had equal power to rome, rome just got full of pride and decided they were the head of all 7. rome also changed the creed, which is anathema according to the church fathers.

The Pope was seen by the entire Christian Church First amoung Equals until he decided he could proclaim dogma on his own and apply it to the entire church on his own. The One Holy Apostolic Church was collegial, the Apostles decided things together, as the Church is supposed to. You are not an Orthodox Christian. If you truly desire to be Orthodox and follow the proper Worship, you know what you have to do.

I'm not a part of either the Orthodox Church or the Catholic Church. As a neutral observer/researcher of history, the Catholic Church is most definitely the one that changed resulting in the 1054 schism. I have no dog in the fight, and absolutely no hate towards the Catholic Church, but the Orthodox Church didn't change.

The Orthodox Church is closer to the original church. We were the same church once, the catholic church was the one that adapted to the politics and modern times more.

Bishop of Rome most definitely taught heresies. Papal infallibility, Filioque, and recently blessing of same sex couples. So yeah…orthodox stayed the course

So you are in communion with a Pope that can't be wrong? So you are in communion with Islam. Pope kissed Quran. And don't tell me any nonsense to explain why. Kissing Quran is blasphemy.

As a former Roman Catholic, once you become Orthodox it's like actually experiencing what you read in the Fathers. Roman Catholics are missing out on so much.

The Church was not Papism in the 1st millennium. Rome had a special place of honor no doubt, because of it being doubly apostolic(St. Peter and St. Paul), but was no where close to the medieval papacy and its teaching of universal jurisdiction. The Church for first 1000 years was synodal and decentralized as the recent Alexandria document admits. Pope Honorius was condemned at a council. But that would contradict the papacys teaching that the Pope can never error. Rome split and errored. Its clear as day. Orthodoxy remains unchanged. Rome has clown and Pachamama masses. And that new Abrahamic faith ecumenist syncretism center. Yikes.
"Whoever call himself universal bishop, or desires this title, is, by his pride, the precursor to the Antichrist." ~Pope St Gregory the Great
