I live in Astoria. All of our schools and many of our business have been closed for two weeks (approx) because we here in our community are working together to try and protect everyone as best we can.. We have run out of many items in our stores and cannot quickly replace them as larger cities can. However, we were inundated by tourists this weekend who didn't seem to have a sense of what they are doing. We had no cases of COVID-19 before this weekend in Clatsop County. After this weekend we do have our first. Please, people, realize we are all in this together to try and stop this pandemic. Governor Brown isn't the enemy; the COVID-19 virus is. We are grateful here on the coast for Governor Brown's order. She shouldn't 't have to do this, but people aren't thinking clearly. For all of those who are out of work because of this virus and who feel stuck. at home, confused and angry, please know this situation is new to all of us. We have been given the best guidance our governor and state officials can give. It is a new situation for them, too. I, personally, realized I need to be more tolerant during this time and to understand that people deal with fear and unstable situations differently. I hope that I can be kinder, better at finding ways to entertain myself and have a more positive attitude toward an outcome that will benefit everyone. Please join me in being more conscious of our actions and our responses. Together we can beat this!
