A ferritin of 19 is extremely low. Anything less than 50 will cause extreme hair loss. A level of 80 is required for hair regrowth. A level of 100 is needed for optimal health.

Hi Cassandra,
Your ferritin level is only 19 and we need a ferritin level of at least 50 to stop hair loss, and at least 80 for hair regrowth. Personally my hair falls out in clumps if my ferritin drops below 55. I have tried everything to fix hair loss and the only thing that helps is maintaining adequate ferritin levels.

The connection between ferritin levels and hair loss is something that many doctors overlook; they look at iron levels but not ferritin levels. I highly encourage you to research the connection further. You might also consider researching the causes of low ferritin when iron levels are adequate, as they seem to be in your case. Low ferritin can be indicative of other treatable issues.

I’m sure that this is a major contributing factor to your hair loss, even if it’s not the whole story. I wish you the best of success on your journey! This seems like a hopeful topic to pursue since low ferritin is a relatively easy fix. :)

NO NO! PLEASE read my comment- your ferritin is definitely low! A ferritin level of 19 is low! Optimal is 100- there is a fb group called the iron protocol that helped me so much!

Plant based vegan 17 years, and I can tell you… I had a hair loss problem do to extreme stress, and depression brought on by trauma after my brother passed. So many reasons for hair loss as you stated.

Hair loss in women is not talked about enough! I used to work with a woman who had this glorious red, slightly wavy hair with silver shot through it. Absolutely gorgeous! But she told a story of when she was first made charge nurse and was super stressed. She lost all her hair and started wearing wigs for at least a year. This would've been back in the early or mid 90s, and super short hair on a white woman was still scandalous especially in the Bible belt. I don't remember how long it took to grow back, and I think she went back to being a floor nurse only to reduce stress before it really grew back. It worked because by the time I met her, she had that glorious hair again.

as a vegan of 4 years that ate VERY healthy and ensured I got protein.... yes... there's a chance girly. within 2 months of eating eggs and cheese again my hair loss stopped. the first time I saw a normal, minimal amt of hair in the drain after a shower I sobbed. I hate it, I wish I could change things but it's true.

I lost my hair and i grew it back.
It was heavy metals
You need the “hair test” that tests for stored metal.
I did a high fiber diet for years to flush the metal and my hair came back. Thicker. Im still amazed

Oh hunni ❤ sending you so much love and strength. I too was told my hair loss was due to my vegan diet but after a few years with multiple different doctors and tests, my current doctor randomly did a peri-menopause test and saw that this is the cause of my early hair loss & thinning. Sometimes it affects women differently in different ages ( well after 20’s into 30’s to 40’s). This also assisted my skin care journey plus weight loss when we started treating the menopause.
Good luck and I wish you all the best forward 🫶

I got my ferritin levels checked and it was at 40, my hair was shedding excessively. However thankfully it went away once I started to add more iron in my diet (including supplements) highly recommend! I was also always super tired now I’m feeling so much better! Good luck ❤

I’m myself have been adding more plant base proteins and eating more fresh vegetables and fruits. I’ve increased my fiber. I can honestly say I feel way better. I have noticed even my skin is so much more radiant. I really hope you find a solution. You’ve been so helpful in my skin journey. ❤

It's hormonal. Acne and hair loss are symptoms of high androgens. When I started taking inositol my acne completely disappeared. Inositol blocks excess androgens. My hair has never been thicker and I'm 40.

I have PCOS and am terrified of hair loss. Your videos have been very helpful in giving me options to look into in case it ever happens. Thank you for sharing your journey, know it is not in vain❤

I got eczema at 29. My derm said it’s genetic and you have it as a child but I never did and no one in my family does. I’m convinced that it’s related to ptsd… like my body started peeling head to toe due to shock. I think our minds have a greater impact on our body than we know…

Its great to see someone taking control of their hair health and exploring the possible connection between diet and hair loss, but I wish they would also consider the role that animal-derived products can play in hair damage. Im sharing this, lets get a conversation started about the impact our food choices have on our overall well-being!

Hey Cassandra, I also suffer from hair loss and I understand how frustrating it can be. One thing that has helped me is using pure virgin coconut oil. I drench my hair in it twice a week, and it has reduced my hair loss to some extent. I've tried to minimize heat styling and use curlers instead. I hope this helps!
