“I Started Losing My Hair At 20” | Listen Up | ABC Science

Some types of hair loss are permanent, like male pattern baldness. Significant balding affects about one in five men in their 20s, growing to nearly 50% of men in their 40s. Some medicines can stop or slow hair loss, and sometimes even create new hair growth. Or like Chris you could try a hair piece.

Other types of hair loss are temporary and can be caused by illness, stress, weight loss, cancer treatment or iron deficiency. If you have sudden hair loss or you’re worried about your hair, see your GP.

The sad reality is that - regardless of the comments supporting his bald look - the overwhelming number of woman would prefer Chris with hair rather than Chris without hair.

I started going bald at 18. My biggest annoyance is women always tell me only women should feel insecure. It pisses me off. I felt insecure, people have made me feel insecure in the past and told me I shouldn’t be. Now, 24 having a decent look being bald, I just wish people understood what men go through.

Hair is such an integral part of how we present of ourselves to the world. It must have been very tough going bald early.

Guys there is a document that contains steps to improve the volume of hair, I personally use that strategy and the results are phenomenal. It is also based on proven natural methods and anyone can make it at home. Document entitled "Hair loss? Stop or live with." if you can't find it, you can find it in the description of my profile.

Being 21 and bald is just not right. I don’t care who says it is “natural”. Maybe it’s natural at 40, but not that young.

I’m happy for Chris. Hair loss is so personal.

As a woman who's been losing hair since age 12, my heart goes out to every single one of you with pattern hairloss irrespective of gender. Stay strong and if you want to, shave off that head. Nobody's gonna judge you

I have been using this hair growth serum of reactivate littleexttrra for a really long time now and satisfied with the results I have got with it... it's my 3rd bottle now.
This serum has to be applied to the scalp so it performs like magic to a dry scalp.
I use it normally before bed time and just rub it well into my hair....and cleanse it the next morning. I have seen hair growth and improvement in my hairline.

I started losing my hair at 16. Now at 24 Im basically almost completely bald and let me tell you, its ruined my life. My family and friends look at me and treat me differently, Its hard to look good or professional for a job interview looking young and old at the same time, its hard landing a second date with anyone. Im kind of at my breaking point and I cant afford to even fix it so its a sad, pathetic loop I get to live till I get lucky some day. Hopefully I can get lucky

I'm currently 23 and I started going bald at 21. Now, I always wear hats. I don't take off my hat wherever I go. But when I have to I feel like every one is looking at my head, sometimes I panicked and sweat, because I'm not use to taking off my hat anymore.

There's really no hairstyle left for me except to completely shaved my head. I don't let my hair grow any longer since it's much more of an insecurity for me to have hair where the top part have less. Still, even with a shaved head I feel insecure.

Sometimes when I talk to women and when they learn that I am balding they immediately ghost me after a day.

Balding sucks.

Have you ever got what you considered a bad haircut when you were younger & dreaded going to school the next day? Well that’s what I consider going bald feels like except it’s even worse because it’s a progressively/permanently bad haircut that only gets worse over time.

Going through this right now at 20, been made fun of for my hair line for the past two or three years and it’s starting to get very hard on my mental health, I’m not sure how to be confident losing it so rapidly

I appreciate you Chris for not feeling overwhelmed to share your personal experience, this really made me comfortable to go with the hair toupee on my head, as I lost hope till today but now it's time to hope for the greatest time to come.

Stress level is up the roof right now for me, i'm tired of hiding and covering my balding part with hair fibres, i feel like i'm trap or something, i want to feel happy and free, i really want to shave it all off but the fear of being judge by others is overwhelming

So many bald people keep saying "Its just hair." in the comment. I can only imagine the previous 4 stages of grief theyve been through already before their current and final stage, "acceptance".

This amygrow natural hair oil does help your hair grow if you stay consistent with using it. I have noticed significant growth in my hairline and other areas of my hair. I highly recommend this natural hair oil.

Hair loss, bad teeth, short height. Perfect combo for me. At 33, never having a relationship, if someone thought it couldn't go worse, I lost my job during covid. I hv decided to not marry at all.

I've been wearing a hairpiece for a year and a half. It's life changing. I'm so happy I took the leap back then!

My girlfriend is with me through this.. I’m scared but I’m not scared of losing her.
Im a young 23 year old man and there’s no way I should be showing signs of balding already.
