Walking just one more minute a day can have a positive impact on your mental health. Simply moving around the house can help fight loneliness and depression, according to the new book, “The Joy of Movement: How Exercise Helps Us Find Happiness, Hope, Connection, and Courage.” The book's author, psychologist Kelly McGonigal, joins “CBS This Morning” with tips about how to add more movement to your life.

Each weekday morning, "CBS This Morning" co-hosts Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil deliver two hours of original reporting, breaking news and top-level newsmaker interviews in an engaging and informative format that challenges the norm in network morning news programs. The broadcast has earned a prestigious Peabody Award, a Polk Award, four News & Documentary Emmys, three Daytime Emmys and the 2017 Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Newscast. The broadcast was also honored with an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award as part of CBS News division-wide coverage of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. What a person eats also greatly contributes to mental health. I had battled for most of my life with BPD, severe depression and anxiety. Once I started putting more fresh foods in my body and less eating out. Switched from coffee to green tea I began to feel so much better. The full 180 happened when I discovered and started doing qigong. Once I combined movement I enjoyed and my diet I am a whole new person.

Humans are born to move, be active and enjoy life. Especially today, and even more after Covid, a lot of us would find ourselves sitting in front of our desks and laptops for terribly long periods of time, and so now it has never ever been more important to move our bodies to stay healthy, live life and, of course, experience the joy that moving our bodies give to us

I wish that CBS would do a series about mental illness and treatment instead of "mental health" for normal people and wellness. Lots of people are dying because they are unaware that evidence-based treatments exist that can help them.

Nowadays people call loneliness and their incapability to improve their life (aka laziness) - depression.
A person with actual depression has no motivation to do anything and can’t enjoy anything. If you joke about it - you DONT HAVE DEPRESSION.

Exercise does help! But it helps in conjunction with my anti anxiety meds. Before my meds, exercise’s good effects were very temporary.

i would walk to work, to class, to stores. i have seen others walking. me and those people would still be depressed. i am in a deep depression for being told that i will no longer have a roof to be under. being active wont work on depression.

Im not social. I have a lot of difficulties understanding people. I live in a world that is perpetually foreign to me. All the little things people do dont make sense to me and I dont know what to do l

Do they get that it's different for every person. Some don't have the energy to move, some just need another solution.I haven't found mine yet.
