This sounds like they just want to keep doing broken expansions forever. I don't even care about EA anything anymore.

I love The Sims, I grew up on it. But I can say with full heart that it needs to die. Every game series has an ending point and 4 needs to be that ending point.

What is positive about this? The Sims 4 is a glitching and outdated mess, the game is outdated even by 2014 standards.

They picked the worst installment to do this with

Well, that's just great. A never-ending expansion of a 10 year old game. I started losing interest in Sims 3 and for Sims 4, I probably played a month and dropped it. Like you said, they just keep coming out with new versions you have to start over with. Was hoping that Sims 5 would actually be better, not just more of the same. And now that's done.

Sims 3 in my opinion was their best version: open worlds, color wheels, great expansion packs. I was really hoping that the Sims 5 would be a wonderful combination of Sims 4 graphics and Sims 3 gameplay style

If anyone thinks they care about the consumers and their save files or purchasing a new game to start over again... I've got a bridge in Manhatten for sale.
They could make the Sims 2 + 3 = Sims 5 game that the MAJORITY of the fanbase has been begging for, for 10 long years. The way I see it is... they are killing off the pc/console part of the franchise (if not the entire thing). I think Grant knew it when he left. They don't want the expense of creating a pc/console simulation game as it's way to involved and expensive. They are going to use the assets already created for TS4 for their new marketing avenues of money grabbing online.. which they have been dying to do for decades now. I have every game and every expansion of every iteration of Sims game for 24 yrs. This is a sad day.

With my little sisters we bought all of the Sims 2 DLC and we were really happy. But when we realized we'd have to do it all over again with the Sims 3 we just stopped playing the game. I watch people play it on Twitch and Youtube but that's about it. I'm not willing to invest that much for one game

they're just going to switch to a subscription-based service instead so wringing you dry won't be as obvious, just like adobe with their products. they'll find a way to take away what you've already bought through some sorts of restrictions and other paywalls, and if it's an online experience, i can very easily see it becoming a limitation to one house in the game and having to pay to have access to more, like ESO.

Crusader kings 3 is already basically the Sims of Paradox. you have 3d characters and a big pile of clothes and now you can even play with a landless character. you can start a family etc + murder etc... and more. but still sad, it's always a shame when a game is canceled that could have been a contender for sims.

With The Sims 5 cancelled EA needs to hire EA Creators to overhaul all the townies and renovate all the lots in Willow Creek and Oasis Springs and many of the household/lots from the older expansion/game packs. Build mode has gone through way too many updates (pools, advanced terrain, platforms, curved wall/pools) for all of the older worlds to not be updated.

They save money and time with that, once inZOI comes out all other games of this genre will become obsolete anyway.

SIMS 4 needs to be over and instead doing expansion be over and just fix it for the next year... The 5 if ever happens in the future needs to be an open world....

After seeing how good inZOI looks graphically, I can't even look at the Sims anymore.

I’m not mad by this, however, I would appreciate them fixing the game if they are going to keep expanding it.

I would love if Animal Crossing did this. But have some tweaks. 1. make it similar to My Sims (I know, not the best game to play, but it had good ideas) where you can fully design homes and furniture for you villagers based on their personality types. 2. make it where if we want to make several different areas we can take our character and "move" to another area to start over without having to buy a whole new system (while also allowing us to keep our old areas in case we want to go back). 3. allow us to tailor make/move the items to our liking (i.e. if I have a trash can item and I'm doing an abandoned themed whatever, allow me to take that upright trash can and turn it on its side as if the wind knocked it over). 4. give us unlimited custom designs to use (when we are done using the custom design on something give us an option to "store it" for later use and get another design to use). That's a lot there. Sorry.

They're just digging their own grave.

They could've at least made a robust game before they stop, TS4 looks bad, plays bad and handles bad... To think this is literally the last game we'll be stuck with is just beyond tilting. But EA killed the original studio so i guess we should've seen this coming.
