How to fix your crackling or hissing speakers

When playing music do you get hissing, crackling, pops, or audio cutting out from your speakers? This is really common especially with older speakers and amps/receivers. Dust and dirt builds up over time inside the equipment and causes problems, namely on the volume knob known as a potentiometer. The amp that I use for my record player could barely get any audio out, and when it did it was only through one speaker! Now it's working great.

Here's how to get your equipment sounding like new again.

WORKS!. I had sensor cleaner and it cleared up the crackling noise. Before the cleaning, 1 speaker worked and the other would kick in and out. Now both are 100%. Good video.

one the two KEF 101 speakers has a crackle sound on one of the speakers, but I don't know if it is the tweeter or the board.
Could you assist/direct me in this matter? Thank you

Hi Cody,
I just got a small 8-track player (RCA Mark 8) and it worked perfect for a while. Suddenly the left channer started making cracking noises, stopped sounding completely and the started again. Basically it goes on and off.
The cables, both the electric connector and the ones with the RCA line in ones are stiff and I don't know if that could have something to do with the issue.
I took apart the volume controls and applied some CRC 2-26 to lubricate them. but that did not resolve the problem.
Any suggestions? Do you probably have a video that addresses this issue?
I know it is not an issue with the speakers or the receiver. I have a CD player, reel to reel player and turntable connected to the same receiver and never had this issue.
Hopefully you can share some information or anyone else reading this, for that matter.

Hi Cody, I have a home theater amp where one channel crackles and cuts out at certain low volumes until the amp has warmed up for a good 10 minutes. I've narrowed it down to the amp as multiple speakers and connection wires all have the same issue. Thoughts on a fix?
