Apple Will Fix Your Crackling AirPods Pro for FREE!

Apple will fix your crackling, static-y AirPods Pro at no cost, even if they are out of warranty! It's called the AirPods Pro Service Program for Sound Issues. They've come to the conclusion that some AirPods Pro may experience these issues:

Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise or while talking on the phone

Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise

If you experience this, Apple will replace the AirPods Pro free of charge.

Hey Andru. Thanks for making other people aware of that. I can confirm it's true. I had the same problem like a year or two ago. And I brought it to Apple Downtown Brooklyn. And I was out of warranty and the guy took them to the back for testing. Because I had told him I had a crackling sound on one of the buds. And he ended up switching both and free of charge. Unfortunately although they lasted long I have the same problem again. So I will have to go back soon.

For anyone wondering how to get the shipping box. You need to connect apple support and let them know about the issue you are having and they will provide you with an option to get service at an apple store or service center or you get the option to ship them. Apple will take care of all the shipping charges.

Sure they’ll replace them unconditionally no questions asked, even outside of warranty, but the new pair also develops the same problem after a few months. I got mine replaced some 5 or 6 times and every new pair I got was perfect at the beginning but developed the same issue after 3 or 4 months. It is so frustrating and annoying. I think it’s a major design issue. Anyone knows whether this has been rectified in the second gen airpods pro?

It’s not true. I went to the locally offocial apple store and they said: it was a recall for that noise problem but only if the airpods is under 3 years old.

So I’m here to clarify what they do in the UK.

I just called up apple repair service. I explained that I was having static sounds coming from the left AirPod pro. They ask you if this is happening in both pods.

I told them my right one wasn’t working due to Mismatch issues (once I got static issues in my left I took the right one and placed them in a new case, the right ended up breaking/stopped working in that new case so I put it back into the original case.

They asked me to go through the process of resetting the AirPods with them on the phone. To be honest the static sound reduced a lot after doing this but the right one still wasn’t working. I told them that I could still hear the static but at a minimum & that the right one wasn’t working.

They told me that there is a program they do for sound/… (there was another word but I forgot) if I’m eligible they will replace my AirPods, the eligibility criteria was if it was purchased before October 2020 or had it for around 3 years. I told them I did NOT have any of that. I got it as a gift a few months ago from a family member but they were already second hand when I received them.

She still booked me in for an appointment for the program. I will update
