Chapter 23 Lecture Video Part 1
Section 23.1 Introduction: Classify amines as primary, secondary, or tertiary.
Section 23.2 Structure and Bonding: Describe the structural characteristics of amines that determine its polarity, reactivity, and basicity.
Section 23.3 Nomenclature: Name primary, secondary, and tertiary amines according to the common name. Give names for derivatives of aniline. Give names for the commonly used amine compounds: pyridine, pyrrole, piperdine, and pyrrolidine.
Section 23.4 Physical and Spectroscopic Properties: Explain the differences in the physical properties of different amines. Identify compounds based on their unique absorptions in the IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectra.
Section 23.5 Interesting and Useful Amines: Identify the 2-phenylethanamine backbone present in certain alkaloids.
These are the lectures that I use in my Organic Chemistry II course. The textbook I use is Smith, Janice "Organic Chemistry", McGraw Hill, 6th Ed., 2020, ISBN13: 9781260119107. Some images used in this video come from that textbook.
