Selling your art explained in 7 minutes ! This works I have done this over the last few years and have sold several paintings ! This is my evaluation only and intended to help others. Each individual will see value differently. This is only a guide from my own experience !

Formula - beginner LxW x.5 = cost

Colors I use in every painting !!

Titanium white
Prussian blue
Ivory black
Burnt umber
Sap green
Cad yellowtail

I paint in watercolor and currently working on a 16x20 cold press paper that is 100% cotton. I charge $2.85 a square inch on all my work. So this commissioned work is selling for just over $900. I am going to mat and frame it as a courtesy because he's a friend of mine. Never under sell your work. Often times I put in over 60 hours on a painting. This is an awesome video!

This is an interesting perspective. I’ve worked with a few other artists who also price this way.

I price by hour. I have some small paintings that are incredibly detailed. I have some large paintings that are simplistic. A super detailed painting might take me longer, even when it’s smaller. I pay myself an hourly rate and put that, plus material cost, as my painting price, rounded up

You gave me light Justin, Some individuals want to buy my paintings but I don't know how to price my work. I've been doing detailed still life oil paintings and spending a lot of hours to complete one but I am really glad that I saw your formula on pricing your artwork. I developed interest in painting during this corona lockdown... and was very fortunate to stumble upon your channel while browsing through for some lessons and tutorials. Your lessons are very informative and I like the way you explained things. I have painted a few paintings and posted them on my Instagram and FB, to my surprise, most of my friends said, i did a great job as beginner. It really makes me happy. Some even asked if they were for sale, to which i answered, I have no confidence in selling and said my paintings are not yet reach the standard for selling. I wish i could show you my paintings to see your comments either they are worth selling.
