OPs wife caused literal trauma to Laura. What she did was vile and unjustifiable and i cant imagine staying married to someone who harrassed, threatened and insulted a pregnant woman. To threaten someones entire livlihood over a petty thing is horrid. Divorce territory.

So obviously OPs wife is horrible ... But Laura is an absolute champ.

OPs wife thought she was being smart but Laura stayed focused, got evidence everywhere she could, got everyone around her in on it and didn't just turn the table on her abuser, she used the table to beat her into the ground.

Text book example of why you don't stay quiet with things like this.

I have to be honest. Hearing the reason why she did what she did, I would have divorced her immediately and ran for the hills. What she did was horrible and terrifying, but why she did it is was the kind of stuff the devil would wince at.

The worst thing about that whole story is that OP's wife felt it was easier to tear down someone else than to try to improve herself. One of the core flaws we keep seeing of the many, _many_ jerks we hear about in these videos is an unwillingness to take responsibility for their own poor decisions.

One time in college (I'm 23 now and this happened when I was 20), I encountered a slightly older (24 at the time) woman at a concert and we hung out and chatted for a bit between songs. We ended up making out but not escalating further. We exchanged social media and after that she asked me on a date which I accepted.

During our date I decided that she is kind of an awful person and way too into herself and after I paid for the restaurant I didnt accept her offer to go back to her apartment.

Over the next few weeks she continued to try to take our interaction to the sex level but I maintained we should just be platonic. She couldn't accept that someone was actually telling her no, I guess because she was accustomed to coasting on her looks, and so she began spreading rumors that I assaulted her in the naked way, not violent stabby-stabby, but high pressure, doubtful consent.

She posted to my social media friends what a creep I was and that I should be jailed. Police actually contacted me after an anonymous person took her story as fact but I showed them all her texts where overwhelmingly all the interaction was her asking me to come visit her, her offering me alcohol, how she wanted to be intimate, why don't I like her, why don't I accept her offer, don't I find her attractive, and so on .

I got into contact with a lawyer that invited her to give evidence, and that we are perfectly fine with going to court to sue her for false allegations. My lawyer also pointed out that, at 24, she was offering alcohol to a technically underage person.

She accepted deleting her libelous posts (I already got screen captures) and posting a short retraction where she declared that I didn't do anything she accused me of, and she was sorry. She did add a caveat that she was suffering depression and low self esteem. Her father paid my lawyer's fees, so even here she avoided responsibility.

Lesson I learned among others was to save all evidence even if it's mundane, because one never knows when someone flips the script on you after they flip out.

Story 1: Is OP’s wife jealous of Laura’s life? I mean no one in a happy marriage and life would do this.

Why do people like ops wife always get a slap on the wrist? She stalked Laura, and if Laura’s coworkers didn’t like her ops wife would have jeopardize her livelihood. The wife deserves jail time.

really reminds me of a certain youtuber, creepshow art, who went out of her way to stalk another youtuber and defame her, over a petty grudge for nearly a decade... a lot of details here really match up with that, including the drug accusations and fake accounts all across social media

She tried to ruin Laura reputation, marriage, career, and the relationship with all of her friends and family. But Laura overreacted taking her to court for defamation of character, stalking, and harassment? And all of this started because almost a decade ago, Wife gave some BS loyalty test, but what started this whole thing was because two years ago wife saw that Laura was living a better life than her?

Maybe there is something wrong with her, but maybe she just a pathetic, insecure person that can’t handle the idea of someone she thinks is lower than her living a better life than she is. Although even if there something mentally wrong, its no excuse for the calculated crap wife did to make Laura’s life a living hell.

"She's never done anything this crazy before" That OP knows of. I'm pretty sure she has done something this crazy before, OP just didn't know about it. I'd personally have reached out to Laura and asked to sue after I divorced so that debt wasn't on me.

Story 1: So she basically did all that all because she was jealous and thought her ex-friend didn't deserve anything at all? I thought maybe she would do somethig petty to Laura to get back at her, but wow, intense stalking and lying? And OP STILL decides to stick with her? Bro, this woman is divorce material. If she can stalk and do all these things without remorse, I wouldn't want anything to do with her.

Umm…i gotta be honest, the fact that Op stayed with his psycho of a wife after the original post is…worrisome.
This woman did ALLLL this crap to her former best friend (not even going to touch that stupid “test” she pulled) and Op’s immediate response wasnt to run as fast as humanly possible is…scary…
Op you NEEED to divorce this woman, and tbh, contact her former friend and ask for help

She harassed Laura because checks notes, she failed a "loyalty" test AFTER she gave Laura the ok to date the dude, and she was jealous Laura lost weight? All that time and effort she was putting into harassing Laura, she could've put into losing weight and potentially having the same if not better results. And OP-can't believe he's staying with his wife. I don't think I'd stay with a husband willing to ruin someone's life like OP's wife did. Person gets mad because you didn't take the trash out and goes nuclear. No thanks.

Story 1: I hope OP didn't hurt himself trying to stretch an acceptable reason out of his wife's actions. She's a bad person and I hope OP gets out of there. If not he deserves everything she puts him through. Incredibly giant red flag!

the wife sounds like a malignant narcissist. I've known a couple and they always have to have a villain. They project their own failings onto that person and focus all of their anger and hate towards them, including making up lies.

I am currently the villain in a narcissist's story and have had to stay no contact. People who know us both tell me they're still ranting and raving about how "evil" and "selfish" i am - a lot of what the wife was spouting.

just a theory, but yeah. I hope OP can get away from her. she's not going to change.

That poor woman, Laura could have ended up divorced and unemployed with a new baby just because of someone else's jealousy. Not to mention how much of a toll the stress would have been on her and the baby physically. I hope Laura is doing well 😢
