How To Fix iPhone DCIM folder This Folder Is Empty

Tried this a dozen times and no luck. BUT I did stumble across this tidbit and it worked for me and my wife's PC!!

The suggestion was to make sure that on your pc you have at least one photo in the folder titled "Camera Roll". Put any photo that you have on your pc into that folder. Then disconnect and reconnect your iphone to your computer.

Once I did this, I was able to see my iphone in the "File Explorer" and easily copy my photos from my phone to a folder on my computer.

I cannot tell you how long I looked for a solution to this issue! So happy that I can again get photos off of my phone!

If your phone shows up but when you click it there is nothing there you have to do is wait.

Put your phone on airplane mode because a call can ruin the connection.

And just leave the phone connected (while trustee)

If you have a slow computer you have to wait longer, times vary by computer speed, wire type and amount of data (GBs) of photos and videos you have.

I have 230GBs of photos and videos, with a computer with a google octane score of 20, 000 ( to find your computers score literally search google octane ) using a USB-C wire with 10Gbps transfer to an SSD with only 700Mbps speed.

Took my computer 45 minutes to locate the DCIM folder.

45 minutes after connecting to my computer and seeing “your iPhone” but not showing any files inside.

Please like this comment so people can see what is going on.

Great. It worked out just fine. All I did was reset the location and privacy setting then replugged into my Windows 10, allow view photo from my iPhone, and instantly able to view the folders and photos from my laptop. It didn't require additional replugs. Thanks man.
