This works sometimes and sometimes not. I Found a pain in the rear end work around that will eventually work: 1) Press control alt delete to open the task a manager2) Select the "Details" tab then sort by process name by clicking the "Name" column header3) Select "Explorer.exe" (not iexplore.exe which is internet explorer) and click "End Task" to kill windows explorer4) In the task manager, click "Run" then type "Explorer.exe" to restart it5) Try the phone contents again.If it still does not recognize and display the phones internal contents, repeat and eventually windows explorer will recognize the phone correctly it and let you view/access/import the contents. This is a pain in the rear but much faster than restarting over and over. Sometime you only have to do it once, occasional 4-5 times but it's a relatively quick process.

*Note: It doesn't necessarily open iTunes. I had to manually open iTunes, then it came up with that message. But thank you - because after watching 10+ other vids, this is the only one that mentions iTunes. People! You need iTunes on you PC or all that other stuff in iPhone settings is a big waste of time!

Thank you so much! This fixed my issue although the tabs that popped up were not the same as what were shown in this video, but close enough. I had an iPhone 5s connected to my Windows XP-running desktop and now my picture files and folders are all there like they're supposed to be!
